A Bitmap Blast From the Past!

The Chaos Engine, a legendary top-down shooter straight from 1993 with tweaks and updates such as16-directional movement, is available for only $9.99 on GOG.com.

The infernal machine known as the Chaos Engine reaches through space and time and corrupts our world twisting humans into bloodthirsty, armored beasts. It is up to a small task force of top mercenaries to stop the menace and bring the balance back to the planet. There's only one way to achieve that goal, of course--shoot everything that stands in their path. The heroes of this story are almost as scary as the monsters they fight, but they know quite well that some places are too dangerous to go alone. Cooperation is the key to success--double the firepower, double the chances of survival--and success is crucial to humankind's continues existence.

The Chaos Engine, the legendary top-down shooter originally released by Bitmap Brothers in the magical Amiga era, is back and it's better then ever. This faithful remake brings around everything that made the original great--sleek graphics, badass characters, puzzles, and extreme gun combat. Once again (or maybe for the first time), you can play through all 16 classic levels in four exciting worlds, preferably in exciting multiplayer mode. For an exciting nostalgic trip with tons worth of bullets being shot on the way, you can't go wrong with a classic like The Chaos Engine!

Set out to save the world and kick some monster butt in one of the most memorable Amiga-era games, The Chaos Engine, for only $9.99 on GOG.com.

CORRECTION: We're sorry for the misleading original post, but the game does not support on-line multiplayer.
What a week GOG! After all the complains, it´s good to see that you are careful to that. A week full of releases, with old and new indie games! This is what we want!
I don´t remember playing TCE (maybe at SNES) but looks promising (and it has brazillian portuguese translation)!
Yes! I've been waiting a long time for this Good Old Game!

I expected the DOS version, though. This one does work well on Linux with Wine, but I'd rather use DOSBox than Wine. The DOS version could be nice bonus content (hint, hint).
I tried the dos version of this ages ago and I have to admit I never understood why this particular game got the praises it got. Perhaps it's better, if you play it with an acutal human, but as a single player game I found it rather bland, both in gameplay and graphics. This refurbished version really does nothing for me either.
And one more game available on Linux that you still don't provide !

How long is it going to last ?

I will probably get it on Steam or dev site if available or whatever, but not here... Oh well... What a shame...
Do I want DRM-free or online co-op? I'll have to see if any of my friends are buying this on Steam.

Tarm: Anyone have any tips for a good gamepad for PC?

I think this game is so fun that it in itself is a reason for me to finally buy a gamepad. :D
Maybe this link may help you.

Thank you. I'll read that for some tips. :)
Looks like the old Amiga version of the game. I'm interested, but wishlisted for now.
I remember owning this for my Sega Genesis. Unfortunately, I require a better rig for this one, so wishlisted for now.
My friend had this on his family's Amiga when I was a kid. Didn't know what it was called until today! I love GoG for moments like this. Oh, the games freakin' awesome. Tactics, action, humour, gore - if I remember correctly. It's good.
Wishted for now. Does look like it could be fun.

Hillsy_: then throw away Skyrim and get Dragon Dogma instead miles better.
While I agree Dragon's Dogma is great, it's not available on PC, and the Capcom America boss who tried to get Capcom Japan to port it to PC was fired or left a few weeks ago, so I guess that won't happen until Capcom realizes they really need to make money.
Lovely addition to GOG.

Such a shame, Dragon Dogma reminds me of the old AD&D games for the PC.
I really think the release date info on the gamecards should be more specific. It's not always clear whether it means the original release date of the main game, the date the latest version with major updates or add-ons came out, a re-release date, or simply the date GOG added it to its catalogue. For this game it says 'August 29, 2013'. If you have never heard about it before and didn't read the News text you could think it's an indie game from 2013.

Why not place additional info about the release history at the end of the description between the overview and the requirements section?

- Original release date
- Latest version or edition release date
- GOG release date

Something like dat. Would be helpful and also interesting.
