Oddworld just got Stranger... in HD!

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD, the remastered high-definition version of the bounty hunting shooter set in the colorful Oddworld, is available on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Where there's a frontier, there's always a person that arrives from nowhere on his way west, and while he's in town bullets are shot, bandits are captured, asses are kicked, and a justice is served. No one ever knows this person's name, so in all frontier towns on all planets in the multiverse, people refer to such a character simply the Stranger. Here's a story of one of them Strangers. The Stranger of Oddworld. The strangest Stranger of them all.

In Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD you become a gunslinging bounty hunter hell-bent on cleaning the Mongo River Valley from the criminal scum and claiming the bounties for the heads of them all. The game is full of Oddworld Inhabitants' signature humor and art-style. The world around you is teeming with peculiar life forms, insane mechanisms, and mind-blowing landmarks. Armed with his trusty double-barreled crossbow that shoots live ammunition (as in: small creatures), the Stranger will stop at nothing to collect his prize. Now you get to see it all in updated, high-definition graphics!

Are you in the market for some bizzaro-western action on a very alien planet? Don't wait--grab Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD, for only $9.99.
The Steam version of the game features Steam achievements. How could it be DRM-free if it uses those ? My guess is that it is an error in the other thread and the game is linked to Steam and won't run without it.

Puzzle Quest 2 has achievements too, but you can run it without having steam running... if you achieve something, it will just not be counted to your account.
Do you people ever stop complaining about steam? I mean seriously... get over it.

On topic... Oddworld YAY! :D

Not as long as Steam remains a giant ever-growing monstrosity that devours all of PC gaming. I'm currently pissed that the new King's Bounty: Warriors of the North is a Steamworks title. I wouldn't waste a thought on Steam if it was just an option instead of being enforced.

Don't know what you mean with complaining, there is only a discussion if the version is also drm-free, which is for some folks relevant if they should it again from gog.
Well, it took a while but I am glad that it's here! This is a special game and the first version's PC port was not up to par. This HD re-release should not only clear up compatibility issues, it should make the game a better experience overall. I haven't played Stranger's Wrath since I tried it at a friend's many moons ago (on a big stonkin' XBox, no less), but even in my short time with it I could tell I was playing something superb.

I was always afraid of picking up the previous release due to the compatibility issues, but no longer. Very happy to see this here.
From the looks of things this is an update of the title that was already present on the website. My question though is can I still have access to the old version should my current laptop not be good enough for the HD version?

The list of games I will never play gets longer every day as so many developers now release them only on Steam.

But....there are still hundreds of games left that aren't on Steam and are DRM-free so the developers loss and not mine :)
Brilliant, I brought this day one and ever since the HD update (and MASSIVE bug fix) was announced held off installing it. No longer!

Awesome announcement!

Just finished this game few weeks ago, finally since I bought it in oddbox few years ago and waited all that time for HD fixed version.

Fantastic game I have to say. Unique atmosphere and beautiful world. This should have cult classic status like Beyond good and evil. I liked it even more that that one.
Very cool. Now get the last Oddworld to complete the series!
Fuuuuuu yeaah! Been waiting for this! :) :) Thank you GOG!
Nice, I shouldn't have to worry about the bugs and stability issues that scared me off of buying this. Now if it and the rest of the Oddworld series would just go on sale.
