That mech packs a punch!

Megabyte Punch, an addictive side-scrolling beat 'em up, where you can custom-fit your fighting robot with parts of fallen enemies, is available for 25% off at GOG.com. That's only $11.24 for one week.

Wake up, Megac! I am the Heartcore, your creator. The virtual world we both call home is under attack. You, warrior of steel, have to fight for its future. Your mission is to defend the digital realm from malicious robotic fighters. Yes, you are a weakling now, but I bestow upon you a power that will be the key to our survival. Now you can use scavenged parts of fallen foes to upgrade your systems and replace your limbs with increasingly powerful weapons of destruction. In time you will become a deadly destroyer, a stalwart defender, our savior.

Megabyte Punch is a gloriously stylish beat 'em up platformer inspired by the long gone days of N64 bliss. With tight combat mechanics, immersive electro soundtrack, and distinctive visuals, the game sucks you into a colorful world of epic boss fights and inventive level design. The ability to upgrade your Megac with over 150 collectable body parts allows for experimentation with combat tactics in search of the ultimate combination of firepower and enhanced skills. You can fight through 6 unique worlds all by yourself or engage in up to 4 player local co-op and versus mode jousts. If you are craving for a stylish platformer full of electrifying robotic combat Megabyte Punch will knock your socks off!

Assemble your machine of mayhem and open up a can of whoopass on a variety of robotic foes in Megabyte Punch, for only $11.24 on GOG.com.
Looks different. Although not for me.

And still we come on tuesdays, we are gog addicts ;)
That is because I don't want to miss the first wave of classics shower they promised and they still have.
[looking at calendar]
20 days to do it
Yay ! Good to see this here. I already had it from IGS since it was in Alpha, the game is awesome :D
Not my cup of tea. Wasn't interested when this was pay-what-you-want on Indiegamestand, so there's not a very high chance that I will pick it up here.

Daimones: So is this like the old medabot games from Nintendo? The mechanics described sound a lot like the medabot games.
I bought this a long time ago on Indie Game Stand, thinking that it was almost practically Smash Bros., and, well, it's almost practically Smash Bros., at least in the single-player boss fights, the PvP Multiplayer, and Tournament modes.

The single-player though, is very much Metroidvania-ish, with fighting mechanics sorta-kinda like a side-scrolling beat-'em-up. The only difference is that there are no light and heavy attacks, only your pelvic thrust (which is exactly what it sounds like), your basic punch attack, and your "special" attacks, of which you get up to four depending on the parts you have equipped.

And speaking of which, that's the really interesting part about MP that feels original to me; the idea that you can swap out parts of your own with those found in the world (like the eponymous "Megabyte Punch", which by the way is ridiculously OP), or those taken from your fallen enemies.

Paint jobs and saved item sets were nice additions in the later betas...but the only complaint I have about this game is that there's no mid-level save, only checkpoints you can return to if you die.

Huinehtar: Interesting release, thanks GOG.

With all these platformers released these months, I should reconsider playing this kind of game like I did years ago.
And perhaps, I sould consider buying a gamepad.

Has anyone tried to play this game or Guacamelee or Space: Mutant Blobs Attack with a decent gamepad for computer, please? On Linux and Wine? Is a gamepay a 'must-buy' to enjoy these games, or a classic combo (kbd+mouse) can be used without any trouble?
I just spent most of the past few weeks playing Megabyte Punch. The mouse is not really used except in the menu, but even then you can still use the keyboard controls. If you are very comfortable with a keyboard you should have no problems, but it is a fairly fast paced game so I opted for a gamepad myself.

I played with the Xbox 360 gamepad on all of the games you listed without any fuss. Just plug it in, fire up the game, and away you go :D
@Stevedog13 & JudasIscariot:
Thanks!
Gamepad on the list!

(and sorry for typo... )
Nice addition.

I don't know what the situation is with Linux and gamepads so YMMV on that. But I know Windows is a breeze.
I have it on Desura and played an Alpha a few months ago, it was quite cool, tough lacking a proper interface to manage all those parts, at the time.

Nice to see it released here but the price is a little off..I think 5 too much.

amok: Did not realise this was out of alpah yet... may need to update my Desura version then...

And cudos to gog to release another indie which have already been sold in at least one bundle
(http://indiegamebundle.wikia.com/wiki/Green_Light_Bundle_3) and on Indie Game Stand
Yeah, I guess GOG and Steam should stop releasing indie games that have already been part of indie bundles. How dare they?
So, the "shower" of classics is over, already?

Yeah, let's wait like a month or more for another Wing Commander release.

Actually, it's not over but I am not going to say whether it's a shower, a flood, a waterfall, a tsunami, or anything else even remotely aquatic in nature :). I'll let you guys decide.

But rest assured that there should be a surprise in each release day of this month for everyone :)

edit: forgot a word :P
