Is this title compensating for something?

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored!, an unruly adventure game brazenly showing its sexy 3D bits, available on GOG.com, for only $5.99.

The legendary leisure suit got passed on. Meet Larry Lovage, the young man destined to carry on the heritage of his uncle, the legendary womanizer and the God's gift to womankind--Larry Laffer. Ok, that might be a bit of an exaggeration. Larry Lovage, the hero of Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored! is just as well suited to wear the leisure suit, as his uncle was a unstoppable love machine. But that won't stop him, oh no! There are still some hot chicks in the world that never heard the name Larry Lovage. It's a good thing--they won't know what's coming.

Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored! takes the fan-favorite Leisure Suit Larry series for a spin in the realm of 3D. Gameplay-wise it's much different from it's predecessors, but the naughty humor is still there, no worries. Once you wrap your head around its concept and the main character who is Larry Laffer's nephew, it will offer you many enjoyable and playful mini-games.

If you wonder what happens when Lovage hits the streets, get Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude: Uncut and Uncensored! for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

We are not talking about bad games. There are some bad games on GOG. Thats not the problem here. This isnt just a very very bad game. The problem is this this game pissed on everything that meant Leisure Suit Larry. This game pissed on a legendary series in the most abject way. It took the charm, the humour, everything that the frist 7 games had and replaced with shit and cheap pornography. And the worst aspect is that it bears the Lesuire Suit Larry title. From now on on GOG this game will be right there next to the first games. Thats a really big disgrace. Just ask Al Lowe about it.

Still, this game is a part of the series' history. It can't be unmade or replaced with a good LSL game. I'm a Hellraiser fan and I don't pretend Hellraiser VIII doesn't exist - it does exist and it's terrible, both as a movie and as a Hellraiser. Same goes for Escape from Monkey Island (but in this case it's just medicore as a game and poor as Monkey Island).
Writing a review on the game's page is the way to go. Tell us why you hate it. Make valid points. Make it funny, so we can all laugh at how bad the game is.
Demanding GOG to remove the game is just like burning Vonnegut's books in Northen Dakota.
So... does anyone know if this release changed anything from the retail box version?

Would someone be willing to run a checksum creation program on their install to help me check that out? ^^;

Titanium: Buying this game basically equals getting a lobotomy: pointless, expensive and brain damaging.
Well you just sold me on the game! :-)
Look at the bright side people, at least it is not Box Office Bust. (*huuurk*)
Been here, did this...and it still burns. This hits that masochism nerve and I think I used a trainer to get through the last third of the game because it was so ridiculously hard and repetitive. This game is bad, but I have played much, much worse. MCL is a curiosity and, if you have six bucks laying around dedicated to no purpose, it's worth playing once. It'll make you appreciate the Al Lowe Larry's in a way you never knew possible. If anything, it's nice that GOG is offering the complete experience (ordeal?) instead of the truncated mess of the censored release.

P.S. Can we have The Guy Game, Playboy: The Mansion and Singles: Flirt Up Your Life now? *kidding...maybe*

Heh,

sure am glad I read this thread.

I never played ANY LSL games because back then I didn't have the hardware but was always curious, and then one day much more recently I see a LSL game on the shelf, scarf it up, take it home and...

Well, let's just say the LSL game I bought that day was this dreaded insult to bits and bytes. I told myself thank god I didn't buy all those other games in the series and never thought again about it.

Now, after reading this, I may (key word is still "MAY") reconsider and give a "real" LSL game a shot.

jorlin: Heh? You call Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom a bad game? I hope you are being ironic here.
Yes, I am being ironic here. I don't understand why wasting time for releasing shit games like this one, when people have been waiting for games like Emperor or Theme Park for ages.
Whoa-ho-ho! Didn't know this game was so hated.

Mind you, I did play it when I was 15, which might explain why I remember it as being funny.

Al Lowe used a lot of cheap sexual innuendo in his own days, but I agree with you mostly.

Anyway, for the sake of completion, I think this game belongs here. The rest of the series is here. Let people play it if they want, let people rate it good or bad if they want. Myself, I only fully enjoyed the first game and I only relate to the first three in the series. All the others were changed for the bad, some more than others.

By the way I never played this one in particular, but everything people say about it is crap.

I do agree, that while the game isn't that great, it's still part of the Larry history, so for that alone it has a place in GOG. The best approach is to give an honest review about it.

Now, I don't say this often about MCL, but it does have a couple of good jokes in it. It's not utterly hopeless case in that sense. But what sucks about it is the monotonious gameplay, in which you need to do mini game after another in order to progress. There's other design issues with it as well, but but if you have enough patience you might get a couple of laughs from it.

Would I recommend it? No. But I'm not going to start demanding GOG to pull it because I don't like it that much myself. If I'd do that, I'd feel compelled to start asking removal of other games as well.

Chill out, it's Leisure Suit Larry we are talking about. Who the hell gets worked up about Leisure Suit Larry? It's all about good times and fun. Sheesh, it's like trying to put down Bruce Campbell. Larry lives on through the good times and the bad times, as well as the good games and bad games.
