Battle dozens of enemies at once with an easy-to-learn, difficult-to-master combat system, take on a variety of quests from friendly villagers, discover ancient secrets and powerful upgrades hidden throughout the massive, open world, and uncover the story of an ancient civilization on the brink of extinction as you fight to uncover your own past.

Run, jump, hack, and slash in Dust: An Elysian Tail, a dynamic action-platformer with RPG elements, beautiful landscapes, tons of original enemies, full XInput controller support, great animation, and a cast of sympathetic characters. As Dust, the furry protagonist of the story, you will wield the talking sword known as the Blade of Ahrah and take on many strange creatures of darkness that have been menacing your world. With the help of magic-wielding Fidget, the sprite guardian of the sword, and an occasional piece of advice from the snarky blade itself, you will follow your destiny and make your way through a vast, fantastic, colorful world that won't soon forget, even after Dust's story is over.

With traditional animation techniques and full 1080p resolution, this might be one of the most enchanting games ever to grace your screen. Let the adventure begin, get Dust: An Elysian Tail, for only $7.49 on GOG.com. The 50% off release discount offer lasts until Thursday, November 14, at 10:59AM GMT.

Noogy: Hey all, Dean Dodrill here (the developer of Dust:AET).

I'm thrilled to finally have the game available on GOG :) I'm a huge fan of the service, and a GOG release has always been the number one request from PC users since it was available on the platform. I hope you enjoy the game!
I'm glad you're here as well. :)

I thought a release here was unlikely since Microsoft Studios was the publisher. So the title here is self published, or is Microsoft signed up with GOG? That's the only thing I'm confused on at the moment.

I'm still aligned with Microsoft for this release, but have been given their blessing to expand beyond Steam. I can't say what this means for other Microsoft published titles, but I'm just glad that I was able to get the game here!

When I saw this on GOG's front page at 6:00 this morning I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Thank you very much for getting your game here!

Thank you for the game. It was quite a treat to play. :)
Dammit. I've been having my eye on this game for a long time and ended up buying it just a few weeks ago when it was on sale on Steam.

I'll wishlist it for now and grab it when it's part of a bundle or something.

Thanks for bringing it here - it was a very nice surprise :) I had already bought it on Steam during a midweek sale a while ago but I always prefer and like to support DRM-free releases so this was an instabuy for me.

BTW, I hear there's a slight possibility of a Linux release at some point? If there is eventually a native Linux release then I'd gladly buy it yet again via the Humble Store or so for that, since GOG doesn't support Linux. I've tried to get it running in CrossOver but the best I've managed so far is to get it to display the ESRB rating before it crashes (probably another case of .NET not getting along well with Wine).

This game is a nice surprise to show up on GOG, thanks for helping the GOG team bring it here. I'm glad you got the OK to release it outside of steam. I liked the demo when I played it on my 360, so I'll be picking this up
Well, this makes one less awesome game I have to fret over if Steam is ever nuked.....

jamyskis: They've responded, albeit very cryptically.

I'm not exactly sure what they mean by "don't have the bandwidth". The game isn't multiplayer, and all downloads and patches are handled by GOG or Desura respectively. Sounds like a bit of a poor excuse to me.

(Sorry, I'm having a hard time choking down the laughter so I can post...)

1. [common] Used by hackers (in a generalization of its technical meaning) as the volume of information per unit time that a computer, person, or transmission medium can handle. "Those are amazing graphics, but I missed some of the detail - not enough bandwidth, I guess." Compare low-bandwidth; see also brainwidth. This generalized usage began to go mainstream after the Internet population explosion of 1993-1994.

I.e., Undead Labs is likely saying that they are currently too busy with other jobs and do not currently have the people-power available to work with GOG on getting the game released on GOG.

If you have any other issues with generalizations of computing terms, feel free to ping me, but please don't finger me! ('cause it just sounds so wrong -- and yes, I used to use finger and have a .plan file and um, we'll leave it at that)
Broke 4 now, but soundly wishlisted.
