dirtyharry50: I haven't even gotten around to Pirates! yet which by all accounts is a far superior game. When I'm in the mood to be a pirate, I will play that one.
I can heartily recommend Pirates! Gold but not the original Pirates as the latter reeeeeeally shows its age. The former still holds up surprisingly well. While I can very much appreciate and thoroughly enjoy the changes that were made in the '04 remake, there's definitely a few things I actually like better about Gold, specifically that one can actually physically attack towns with one's ships and, if you have a fast enough ship, it's quite possible to circumvent their defenses to charge a fort's walls. Also, I actually like that the duels are fairly straightforward and minimalistic in Gold. After seeing the same silly animations for the thousandth time in the '04 version it gets a bit tiresome.

Land-lubber. Noon-day sun sighting is the only way to navigate the seas!

Lodium: No, its not,
Its after the year 2000 so its not classy enough acording to somone.
I was born in 1977 so i grew up with other old games
this isnt old enough for that.
Corsairs was released in 1999, Corsairs: Gold few months later (in 1999 as well). I don't have any idea how the year 2003 got here.

GOG devs? Any1?
Always wanted to have that game, thanks!

Ah Ha so that explains the resolution thing. It doesn't bother me because it's a great game all around but I was wondering how a 2003 release didn't have any graphics options. Now it all makes sense. Thank you.

I knew i spotted that it was after 2000, sneaky gog :)
Oh well i guess i coud have cross checked it.

My point is still valid though.
One born in 1990 have a totally different opinion of what is old or classic if you compare to one born in well lets say 1970
because they grew up with diffrent games.
At least thats usally the case or have been the case until the rise of emulators, virtual consoles and what have you not.

On the subject of what is old, and I think I mentioned this a few months ago, a kid was in my B&B, pointed to our turn table and asked me what it was.

My younger brother coudnt understand what the apeal was with old games.
He likes modern games like crysis and such and anything older than 3-4 years old is old to him.

One day when i was playing settlers he commented:
Why do you play that shit? it,s so pixilated i cant even see the characters/avatars properly.

Me: Why do you play your shit?
Its so fast paced that you need to be in pretty good shape hammering down your buttons on the keyboard and in addition you have some rude kids yelling insults all day long for no point whatsoever in teamspeak or whatnot.
