The Milk Must Flow!

Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender, a side-scrolling shoot 'em up full of pixel-art pride, catchy chiptunes, and valiant cats in their meaowtactic submarines, is available for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

Cats don't like water. That's a well known fact. But also, cats love milk. It so happens, that the feline love for milk is a force more powerful than their aversion to hydrogen dioxide. Therefore, when the world finds itself at the brink of global milk shortage, the leaders of the cat commonwealth decide to tap the last known great source of the favorite delicacy: the milk deposits under the ocean floor. But for the milk mines to remain operational, the cats need to defend the prospectors from the many monsters living deep in the sea. Putting cats in submarines seems like a strange idea, right? Well, desperate times call for desperate measures!

Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender is a dynamic horizontally scrolling underwater shooter with cats, submarines and retrotastic aesthetics. In this smashing shoot 'em up great hand drawn pixel-art is combined with awesome chiptune audio clearly inspired by the great memories of the Amiga and C64 days. With optional 2 player local co-op, branching map progression, infinite play mode, depth based power-up system and more exciting arcade features, this title is almost as fun and cute as all the kitty photos of entire Internet combined!

The well-being of the entire catkind rests in your able paws, so give those sea-monsters hell in Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender, for only $5.99 on GOG.com.

HEALTH WARNING:
In real life, it's actually not a good idea to feed milk to your cat. Lactose intolerance is even more frequent with cats than with humans. Although kittens are able to tolerate milk, most adult cats cannot. Their digestive system cannot process dairy foods, and the result can be digestive upset with diarrhea.

PaterAlf: Downloaded the game and played the first few levels and so far it is good fun. You need good reflexes, but the difficulty isn't very high by now (of course I expect it rise in later levels). Feels very much like a game from the good old C64/Amiga times.

And because some people asked about gamepad support: Game works fine with the Logitch F510 gamepad.
Thanks - good to know your Logitech works fine. We are quickly working on a fix for those people who are having control pad issues, apologies.

Ach, hallo PaterAlf!
Nice to see a familiar face. Funny how it seems that the same people end up buying and commenting on the same games.
Must be an age thing. I remember playing games like this with a friend on his Amiga and at my cousin's. I myself had a 286 (then upgraded to a 386) ...

That's got to be the best game title of 2013.

Yes, maybe it's an age thing. While I really like some of the modern games, it were indie games and retro freeware games that gave me the most joy during the last few years. Maybe because they remind me of the time when I was young.
And my first computer was a C64, followed by a PC 286 (with a 40 MB HDD) several years later.
I think we've finally found my line. This one's not for me.

I'd rather be killing the kittens than save them. Yes, I'm a bastard. Well, that and the fact I'm tired of cats fucking everywhere on the internet. I don't need them in my games, thank you very much. That hat is so old it should have disintegrated already.

gandalf.nho: Looks fun, but very hard at the same time.

TIkipod: Hi gandalf.nho - have you tried the Easy mode? Just press Y on the map screen and you can toggle between easy and Normal.
Thanks for the answer, but I don't purchased the game yet, but the fast pace of the gameplay video looked like a hard game

Hi - well the video tends to show the busier action for one thing, and shows normal mode.
Easy mode gives you more lives, reduces enemy fire rate and reduces enemy health.
I hope that helps :)

256 will probably be just fine, its just there are so many variables with PC setups, and with 512 or higher being standard for modern pcs it seemed safer target spec - to make ensure the game would run smoothly.
Got to love the HEALTH WARNING :-)
