Wake up to a dream.

Anodyne, a retrotastic adventure game with nostalgic 16-bit era action-RPG feel and a deep story that takes you deep into human subconsciousness, and comes bundled with a 70-minute MP3 soundtrack, is available 25% off. That's only $7.49 for the game's first week on GOG.com!

The human subconsciousness is an uncharted land and there is very little the scientists can do to explore it. But what if a man could access his own subconscious mind as if visiting it in corporeal form? What if you could roam the grassy fields of your childhood memories? Climb the rocky cliffs of your traumas? Stare into the calm, dark waters that hide the things you chose to forget or watch as the fire of your desire burns ever so brightly. Finally then--battle your unrealised fears in the dark forest of doubt, just as if it all was a 16-bit era console game. It's possible in Anodyne.

Anodyne tells the story of Young, a human who travells deep into his own mind. The deep storytelling has been paired with classic action-RPG Zelda-ish gameplay and absolutely gorgeous pixel art graphics. The detailed locations you explore are vibrant and compelling, the tale is intriguing, and the dreamlike music completes the experience perfectly. All adventure, RPG, and retro-gaming fans should enjoy this title immensely.

Begin your incredible adventure with Anodyne, complete with extra MP3 soundtrack, for only $7.49 on GOG.com! The offer lasts until Thursday, March 28, at 10:59AM GMT.
I like the art style and the game looks like it might be fun, but it's so small and cramped. It would be like playing a GBA game on an emulator, which is not really an ideal experience.

I passed on Mutant Mudds for the same reason.
damn it GOG, how much money do you think I got? You release System Shock 2 and Larry 7 figuring that will be it for must get games for a while, then I turn around and you start releasing Realms of Chaos, Omikron, Undying, Syndicate Wars, as well as Catacombs and Secret Agent and now this.

*Sigh* Better start saving..
I've been waiting for this.
This is yet another indie game that I apparently own (on Desura) but I've no idea where I got it from.

Divorce her.

Maybe you lost your house, but you'll have GOG.com with you.
I thought the developers said this game wasn't coming to GOG.com due to it being "too simple" for GOG.com's audience? Was I misreading something? Were they trolling? Who knows?

Anyways, glad to see this here! Will have to try and pick it up sometime.

After all the different indie bundles I have bought but haven't even gotten around to activating, I don't buy indies anymore as chances might be I already own it somewhere. xD

It seems that GOG changed their mind; could be they listened in on GOG members enthusiastically praising the game or maybe that's just wishful thinking and they had other reasons for renegotiating.

I dig the pixel graphics style, and I dig the fact that it's an action-RPG. In fact, I'd that say the world needs more pixelated action-RPGs, lots more.

Sold!

The one thing I don't care for is the field of view, though I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I must say that I love every indie game in they own form (mostly all of them). But... this is getting tired. What are we paying for? The game that had might be for free or the soundtrack that seems to have more work on it than the game itself? And asking 10 dollars for overall doesn't help. Yes, indeed, this game can be precious and a piece of software enjoyable yet I feel somehow it's wrong in a way. That and the high price.

Anyway everyone is free to take it or not.

And thank you GoG for bringing more titles. But OLD ones are better appreciably. ^^

Roman5: Yawn
Doesn't look like it has anything special or interesting about it
The graphics and artstyle are ugly as well, another Indie game that tries to be "Retro"

Roman5: Ok, Seriously?
Critisism and Opinions about games are not allowed anymore on GOG?
Get a grip, people, I'm starting to feel like this place is turning into the Bioware forums

Roman5: I think the game looks ugly, that is my opinion, how else do you want me to put it?

Hi Roman5,
ever heard the saying: "What goes around, comes around"?
I mean, naturally you are entitled to have your own opinion...but serious,...what was the point in your first post?

Here in Germany we have a saying: "Wenn man nichts gutes zu sagen hat, sollte man gar nichts sagen!"
Translation: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!"

Another saying here in Germany is: "Der Ton macht die Musik."
Translation: "It's not what you say, but how you say it."

Maybe you (and, of course, all of us) should keep those sayings in mind, for future reference.

I'm not sure if I really understand what you mean to say, but ... "What are we paying for?" We pay for a few hours of entertainment, just like with any other media. You could also ask the opposite question: Why are we not paying for freeware games? No game "should" be free, just as noone should have to spend their time working in an office or at a construction site without appropriate compensation. Creating games is work and requires the developers to sacrifice a lot of their time. If anything, we should be grateful that some people are so generous to share their creation with us for free without asking anything in return. We can't expect everyone to be as altruistic and self-sacrificing, asking to be paid for your work is only fair, and noone's forcing you to buy their product.
