Diggin' Yet Another Delusion.

Dyad, a psychedelic arcade abstract shooter that aims to mesmerize the player, and possibly even induce altered states of consciousness, with its rhythmic pulse and vibrant colors, is available for pre-order 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $11.99, until the game arrives on Wednesday, April 24, approximately at 10:00AM GMT.

It's quite difficult to explain Dyad to someone who never played it. No, seriously! You could talk about it for over 6 minutes on video, and still leave the viewer confused as to what the game is about. It's probably easier to explain what the game feels like, especially if you reach deep into the vocabulary of the groovy 1960s. It would still be pointless, though, as there are some things that make sense only when you experience them, not talk about them. This game, most certainly, is one of those things.

Dyad, apart from the "wow, dude, that's like soooo groovy" factor, is a fast-paced abstract shooter in which you fly up a tunnel made of light. The game contains 27 varied levels featuring filled with vibrant colors, mesmerizing shapes, and interactive music. There's also a tactical trophy mode and meditative remix mode, that reportedly may put you in a peculiar state of mind. All that makes up for a unique experience that goes beyond gaming and explores the realm of transcendence.

If you're up for a transcendental voyage filled with amazing colors and sounds, Dyad is the legal way to go, and the limitless trip wil cost you only $11.99 on GOG.com.
I haven't pre-ordered anything since Legend of Grimrock. Actually this is my second pre-order ever ^^
The game looks definitely like a very interesting experience, my kind of thing. Can't wait till Wednesday!
About that sadly missing two player mode...

Is there anyone here who has played Dyad on Playstation 3? If so, is there anything with the gameplay mechanics that makes a two player option impossible? Whatever that would be - it's a Tempest-esque shoot 'em up, for heaven's sake!

Unless simultanious play is made impossible by the gameplay for some strange reason, is there any chance the developers will make a 2P patch? Maybe there have been some discussion regarding this on the game's webpage? Do you think it's unrealistic that there will be such a patch because the game was designed for Playstation 3? But today, patches for console games aren't unheard of either, right? And as console games are usually played with gamepads, in a couch in front of a large TV, they are probably more fit for two player modes than PC games?

I played the ps3 version and sincerelly I'm not really sure that a two player mode would work

Is not really "impossible", but the game is more of a really fast paced puzzle game based on bettering your own records than a real tempest-like shooter, from which it borrows just the core elements.

Westenra: I couldn't care less when a game came out, so long as it is fun. There is such a thing as a "modern classic", and why split hairs over GOG's catalog anyway? The more the merrier, no need to be petty about categorization.
I am not petty about categorization, I just want a decent mix of old and new games. And when Overlord is being used as an example of an old game, to show that GOG are not forgetting their roots, I am pointing out that it is, in fact, not very old. It was the enigmatic Mr. T here who first used the word classic about age.

Do we have a more exact idea of when we might be seeing this go live? I live in Australia and it's the night of the 24th... normally by now that gives whoever enough time to flick the switch around midnight their time. I'm antsy!
