A completely new chapter in the most prominent modern horror game series.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, a terrifying survival horror game set in Victorian London, on the edge of insanity and nightmare, is available for pre-orders 20% off on GOG.com. That's only $15.99 before the game is released on September 10.

Cold sweat running down my back, I sit wide awake in my bed. Before the fever is back, I have a moment of clarity to reflect upon my dreams. The noise of the machine that haunts them still sounds in my head. The visions of infernal machinery are driving me insane, never revealing the installations whole form nor purpose. All I'm certain about is my fear. The cold sting of its needle pierces right through my heart. The world feels more and more like a small cardboard box, and its walls are getting closer, and closer. Finally, they will close on me and trap me inside, like in a little coffin. Even though the window is open, and the cold, damp air of the London night extends its tendrils down my lungs, I don't feel that I can breathe freely as the fear consumes me. I can hear that infernal engine again. Strange, I could've sworn I'm not asleep anymore.

Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, the indirect sequel to Amnesia: The Dark Descent excels in the art of terror storytelling. Using first-person perspective gameplay, suggestive visuals, and chilling ambiance, it creates an experience that all horror fans will deeply appreciate. Altering and expanding the ideas used in the previous Amnesia story, the game offers a new level of immersion and interaction, that will make you feel a part of the events more than ever before. With a gripping story-line, perfect pacing, and atmospheric environment design, this title is everything you need to make your heart beat faster.

Pre-order Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs for only $15.99 on GOG.com today, and start preparing for one of the most terrifying and unsettling gaming experiences of your life. The 20% pre-order discount offer lasts until the game's release, which is expected on September 10.
By the looks of page 3, GOG really needs to consider offering Linux. Maybe that's what is coming in January.

Hope to see some g.o.g.s released next week! :)

timppu: Tempted. I kinda like the Penumbra and Amnesia games.

Are there any (positive) previews of the game, or would I have to buy it completely blind?
avatar
Kunovski: there's 90 % chance this game will be almost the same (considering atmosphere and gameplay) as the previous Amnesia, only with a different setting, so blind-buy isn't really possible :)
avatar
charbon: Tempted, but I'm still on the fence about this. The 1st game was cool but had zero replaybility because of the scripted encounters. I guess I'll wait for reviews.
avatar
Kunovski: hmm, I wonder how many times do you guys play your games? I'm having real trouble finishing many games even once :D
Yeah, exactly, the only games I´ve played several times so far was Diablo II, Thief (all 3 of them) and Deus Ex - just because of plethora quality mods/fan missions for two latter mentioned.
avatar
Kunovski: try Gone Home - it feels like first-person horror sometimes but isn't, so it's a good practice :) also, the writing is really great!
Thanks for the tip. I have been following the show and definitely plan to treat myself when the price drops a bit :).
No Linux support here so I got my pre-order elsewhere (on Steam).

Not just page 3, but page 2 as well. The Linux requests start on page 1, however, and they don't seem to be stopping. I am glad!
Wish this had a linux version as well. I have bought several games recently on steam as they included the linux version. FTL for example...
I'm holding off for the Linux version too.
Makes you wonder where all the Linux users were for the recent Wargame: European Escalation launch. Then again, that game became available for Linux a while go.
guys (and gals), what's with all that linux urge? has the whole world gone hipster? :)

I still remember my friend praising linux and that we all should move to it and boycott evil Microsoft, only to see him go back to Windows a few days later as he hasn't found a proper way to install and play Counter Strike :D

this happened like 8 years ago I admit, so it's possible one can even found decent graphics card drivers for linux nowadays, but for me it's still much more convenient to "go with the flow"...
Well done GoG, glad you guys have this.

With Steam, Kickstarter, Desura, and the Humble Bundle providing such great support for gaming on Linux, don't be surprised to see that there are more and more Linux gamers amongst you. Many Linux gamers including myself hope that GOG will follow and, as of now, the request for GOG to include Linux clients for games that have them is the most voted on request that GOG has not yet tackled. GOG is actually losing sales because games can be obtained elsewhere with Linux, Mac OS, and Windows clients.

I am sure your friend knows this by now, but Counter-Strike and Counter-Strike: Source are available for Linux these days, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will follow later this year. Regarding graphics drivers, Nvidia's performance on Linux is on par with that on Windows, and Intel is doing excellent work as well. Only AMD is lagging behind. There's many reasons to use Linux, and some against as well, I'm sure. Do what suits you best and we'll continue to do what suits us. I, for one, can say that I certainly would not mind to see The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077 run natively on Linux in all their glory, and I am willing to back that statement up by opening up my wallet.
Magnificent releases recently... Great job guys!!

TheJoe: Steam lists Linux support. Don't make me do it, please :(
You can always order from Frictional or Desura (Desura already has the pre-sale, that includes a Linux version, DRM free).
I think I'll buy this one (like the Penumbra games and Amnesia before ) directly from the developer.

edit: pre-ordered from the Humble Bundle.

Don't be so surprised. It's the most voted for site feature request that GOG has not yet tackled. :]
