A platformer with the darkest of souls.

Spelunky, a fun but very unforgiving platformer with procedural level creation, dynamic and diverse gameplay, and charming 2D graphics, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.49 for the next 24 hours!

What makes an adventurer? Is it the stylish, but worn outfit with the dusty old hat? No, we've seen adventurers dressed in all kinds of rags. Is it his faithful weapon of choice, like the whip? Again, no. Some adventurers make do with an old umbrella and you don't see them complaining. Is it the imposingly funny sidekick, providing comedic relief to each situation, whether the hero likes it or not? No, many adventurers are lone wolfs. So, what do they have in common? The answer is: complete and utter disregard for danger, and very little imagination. This is a story of such an adventurer. A story, that would never take place if its hero knew any better.

In Spelunky, you'll be exploring ancient temples, caves, and ruins so packed with deadly monsters and traps, that virtually every step you take without dying is a cause to feel good about your gaming skills. The underground is full of forgotten treasures, gleaming gold nuggets, and shiny gems. Get the loot, escape the traps, beat the beasts, and rescue the damsel in distress (or a boy, if you're playing a female character). If you want to feel like a daring archaeologist/adventurer and you're not afraid of any danger, this game will feel like a dream come true.

Brave the breakneck underworld and try--just try!--to escape with all the precious treasures you can carry in Spelunky, for only $7.49 on GOG.com. Don't wait, because the 50% off discount offer lasts only until Thursday, October 24, at 9:59AM GMT.

Zoidberg: Indeed.

And it WAS a lie, it is a problem (to me at the very least). Couldn't buy it when it came out so I did not.

CharlesGrey: While I don't know the details, I have to say I find it hard to believe that Derek and Co. would intentionally spread false information among their potential customers. It's probably much more likely that it was just some mix-up or whatever. ( I can see how that would still be irritating, but outright calling them liars seems a bit harsh and uncalled for. )
As you are quite civil despite my harsh words, those words are indeed honest and called for.

"Spelunky will launch on Steam and GOG, followed shortly by the Humble Store."

Two and a half month later... and still nothing, and they are ignoring threads about on their own forum and don't communicate on it anymore.

Thus, they are liars.

I am not inventing anything. :(

Still, calling them liars implies that they were intentionally spreading false information, when in reality they probably just didn't know any better. In other words, they fully intended to publish the game at the HS, at the time they made that statement, but who knows what happened in the meantime. Maybe there's been some disagreement between the developer and the management of HS? Or among the developer team? Really, who knows what's going on behind the scenes. Did you try to contact them yourself?

Yes, I did try to contact them. And maybe there had been some fishy things going between them, only THEY know, and they do not communicate on it (whether it will come out on the Humble store or not), it is a lie, sorry to insist on that. :/

Well not really, it all depends on his perception of time.
If he's immortal, two months might pass in the blink of an eye.
That's why it's always a good idea to use vague terms like 'shortly' instead of concrete terms.

... I'm not forcing you to answer me, there's no need to pull off mokery if you don't agree...
I'm happy to report that I've just beaten Spelunky. 140 premature deaths and 1 win (killed by old age sounds good!). Thanks a lot for a lot of fun I had with this game.

Great job, but you still need to fill in the row under the wins. :p
