Many generations, one destiny.

Rogue Legacy, a procedurally generated RPG/platformer where the fallen heroes pass their quest and their skills onto their children, is available 50% off on GOG.com. That's only $7.49 for the next 24 hours!

When you are old enough to read this words, their meaning will unfold. These words are all that's left and though we've never met, my dear child, I hope you know that I would have been there to watch you grow. But my call was heard and I did go. Now your mission lies ahead of you, as it did mine so long ago. The castle towers reach for the sky, overshadowing your home. There lies your destiny, my child, and your doom, but you shall overcome more dangers than did I. Bless you, now go. Ride like the wind, ride proud my child, and do reflect upon me when you die.

Rogue Legacy takes the classic 2D "metroidvania" gameplay and cranks up the difficulty level so much, that it's impossible to keep your character alive. Don't worry, though--once the brave knight dies while exploring the ominous haunted castle, its only a matter of few clicks to resume the adventure as their knightly offspring. You will get to choose among the children to pick the character whose traits and flaws suit you the most, and continue their parent's quest retaining the stat bonuses and equipment they managed to secure. The game sports sleek 2D graphics, perfect intuitive controls, tons of great humor, giant boss monsters, and virtually infinite replayability provided by the castle's ever-changing layout. Most importantly, though--it's simply enthralling. Each time your hero will fall, you'll experience a sudden rush of desire to have another go. Again, and again, and again.

Brave the many dangers of the mysterious castle while you learn the true meaning of inheritance in Rogue Legacy, for only $7.49 on GOG.com. The offer lasts until Thursday, September 26, at 9:59AM GMT. Don't miss out on this wonderfully addictive game!

Hah, never occurred to me. Thats great.

CrowTRobo: One that I have picked but didn't notice anything different while playing was the gay trait.
I've noticed it alters statues in front of the boss rooms and in the end of the game when your family is shown your partner has the same gender as you. But nothing changing the gameplay.

EDIT: the worst trait ever is vertigo. It's unplayable for me ;)

*cough* *cough* Did I say something about taking a break from this game? *cough* *cough*

NG 6+ is finished. A funny thing is that I only needed 6 more heirs to achieve it but it took me more than one hour! At this level (I'm still not using any grace runes) bosses have incredible amount of hit points and wearing them down may take several minutes. And once it happened that a barely breathing Fountain killed my hero so ~15 minutes I spent on him were all in vain. Sigh...

OK, this time I'm really taking a break. I mean really, REALLY, REALLY!

I purposefully never picked an heir with that trait. It looked completely unplayable to me just by looking at the character card :) I doubt I would've gotten very far with a Vertigo char....

I tried him once for kicks. Never again. You would rather play blinded than this.

That's cool. What about baldness? Does it have any gameplay effect?

No. Your character looks a bit different (actually it's barely visible) and when you enter the castle you will see "balding" instead of "building" but that's all I think.

Vertigo is so bad that it should have some positive effect to make it at least slightly tempting.

Actually it does have a little positive effect but it's not much because every single eye-related trait has it: after praying at the spiritual shrine you may receive nerdy glasses. They will not only cure your eye illness but allow you to see every secret chest and, most importantly, you will also see which of three chest that this pesky elf is offering you is the correct one. This way I once made a fortune. Too bad I already got everything but oh, well...
