You've got 1 new friendship invitation.

Redshirt, a deep-space station sim game that's a spot-on satire on social media "relationships", as well as a smart Star Trek parody that should resonate nicely with the series' fans, is available 40% off today on GOG.com. That's only $11.99 for the next 24 hours.

Social Networks: The Final Frontier of human privacy and dignity. This is Redshirt, a comedic deep space life sim focusing on online social life of the crew of a space station. Their mission in life: to post the pictures of their odd looking, tentacle waving lunch on their Spacebook profiles, to stalk their crewmates private holograms, to boldly collect more "friends" than anyone collected before. Fair warning: in this game, your character is low-ranked deck hand wearing a red uniform. On a deep space mission. In space. Avoid being put on away teams at all cost! This game is an absolutely bonkers look at life in the future, mixes together strategy, interpersonal conflict, Sims-like professional development--and a fair measure of Machiavellian inter-station politics--into a solid bundle of fun that's sure to amuse anyone who's a critic of modern society's habit of sharing, liking, posting, pinning, plussing, and friending so much that they miss the alien about to eat their face.

Every now and then we see that a game we fell in love with doesn't quite get the attention we imagined it would from gamers and media alike. A game, that deserves to be featured again. A game that deserves your attention. A game that will bring you lots and lots of fun. A game like Redshirt, now for only $11.99 on GOG.com. The 40% off discount offer will last until Thursday, December 12, at 10:59 GMT.
Sounds like a lot of fun.
wasnt this one up against Keane on its initial day?

^_^
Hmm, I think I might take a chance on this now.
Unique and funny game.
Whoa! This game was released less than a month ago and we have a promo so soon? That's... strange...
high rated
I guess that $20 price tag didn't work out so well after all then?
Hm, I'm wonder when the Ethan: Meteor Hunter sale will happen...

A plausible reason from the top post...

Not for the publishers, unless it didn't sell well :)
Oh well, why not. Albeit I don't see myself playing it in the near future, considering the amount of other games in my backlog box yelling "Me me me! Pick me! I promise I will not let you down, you want to play me me me!".

At least these guys had sense to check how well they sell in sales, unlike those couple of other indie developers who went to make "post mortem"-bitches after seeing poor sales during the first month after release, without any sales in between. Come on, we know you don't seriously expect us to pay the default price in the oversaturated indie market, do you?

Well, that quote seems to imply that it didn't really sell well...

It probably didn't and I'm sure the "OMG! $20, u crazy!" was a popular sentiment here and elsewhere. It probably saves face to have a sale rather than a permanent price drop and drum up some positive word of mouth about the game itself.
Game doesn't really look that bad. The pricing probably killed any chance it had of selling well.
