The captain is onboard!

FTL: Faster Than Light, the starship managerial roguelike-like sim that will put you in charge of a spacecraft and make you feel like a star fleet captain, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

You're the captain. It's all up to you. When the space pirates' attack and your craft's reactor is in critical shape, will you reroute the last drops of precious energy to the shields, or put them in one final shot of the plasma cannon in hopes of blasting through enemy defenses? When you're being boarded by aliens, will you meet them in hand to hand combat or will you open the airlocks and vent them into space, sacrificing a crew member that didn't make it to safety of the command bridge? Very often it takes more than courage and imagination to complete your mission. Some strategic genius, with a little bit of madness--that's what makes a brilliant commander!

FTL: Faster Than Light is the indie phenomenon of 2012. It's complex and extremely challenging turn-based gameplay won the the hearts of thousands of Sci-Fi-loving gamers worldwide by providing them with a experience as close to actually commanding a deep space vessel as one can imagine. The game puts you in charge of all the ship's systems and crew, often forcing you to make difficult decisions. The game's universe is generated procedurally with each playthrough, so every new game presents you with different challenges, opportunities, and special events to deal with. Every single command you give can prove to be critical and there's no way to return to a previously saved state. All this makes for a incredibly addictive and demanding game, that will always leave you craving for yet another turn.

Make yourself a nice cup of earl gray, sit comfortably in your chair, and treat yourself with a game or two of FTL: Faster Than Light, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The promo lasts until Thursday, March 14, at 10:59AM GMT.

jamotide: Would that look something like this?

Random goger: "Hey Zoidberg, I can win with the Kestrel 100% of the time if I don't make stupid mistakes"
Dr.Z.: "Well, yeah, you're just lucky!"

But then we already have your two threads of this on the FTL subforum.
Want to "really" prove your point?

Go in the thread I created and do it. But you'll have to do better than playing child...

Pheace: No sense to buy this on Steam anyway since when there's promo's on FTL they always lower it on the official FTL site as well, so you can get the low dollar price, and on the official site you get a DRM-free version *and* a Steam key.
And a Linux version. :-p

thogu61: Oh Nooo, I missed this out completely. As my credit card is actually on absolute zero and loading up would need five working day
Excuse me my ignorance, but isn’t the purpose of a credit card buying things on credit? If I’d have to preload my “credit card” it would be the same like vegetarian Schnitzel with Tofu … :-p

thogu61: I know, I will not be the real FTL-hero, because I have problems if I have to do decisions under pressure.
That’s not the problem here because you can always pause and have time to think. The point is, you mostly forget to press often enough and think, yeah, just one more action of my crew, then I pause, and that is when the enemy’s missile hits your transporter room 0.5 seconds before you sent your crew back. ;)

You mean again? I was there, spent much time and effort to help you with the game, as have many others. The point has already been proved.

Well, it has to me too: this game is based on luck and noone can prove me otherwise.

Too bad... still just an average game because of that.
Ok I ask you clearly, how can it be based on luck, if people can win consistently?

By having luck consistently.

And people win consistently? OK, forward me a link to some let's play where the person plays several runs and wins them consistently.

I definitely suggest that people give this one a download, its super easy to sink 30 minutes to 30 hours into in a single sitting. You'll feel yourself getting better with each progressive voyage you embark on and there are quite a few possible ways to run a ship.

You won't regret this buy.

Yes of course, people only win all the time, because they have good luck all the time. And you lose most of the time, because you always have bad luck, right! You cant be serious.

And I doubt theres lets plays of people doing 20 of the same runs, and no I'm not going to spend a week doing that for you.
The Kestrel is an extremely easy ship with the most efficient weapons of the game, there is no way to lose with that ship even with the worst of luck UNLESS you make mistakes.
