Profanity: Do people praise this thing because it's a good RPG or because it has an interesting story?
Both in my opinion.
Nice game, recomend for RPG fans
Hmm was on my wish list so time to reduce it down. I was on 0 games in the wishlist after the Christmas sales but back up to 19 now despite some buying in between.

This game will make it 401 games on GOG. Got a frequent buyers club GOG :)

TheEnigmaticT: It's a solid RPG in the vein of the Avernum series (unsurprisingly). The story is good, though, and the combat is satisfying if a bit easy to old grognards like me.
It was designed as more of an entry level game, for those interested in getting into Spiderweb's games, but who found them too complex/overwhelming, which is why it is a bit easier than Spiderweb's other games.

assassin33: Anyone know the running time on this one?
It took me about 55 hours to complete, and overall I'd say I really enjoyed it. It's not overly complex and generally the turn-based combat is fairly easy (with a few exceptions), but it has a decent story that kept me interested to the end.

Definitely well worth the money.
YES! At last, I can complete my Spiderweb Software collection! Thanks, GOG! By the way, this promo could not have come at a better time; this is my last week of classes. Time for two weeks of rpg goodness!
I'll pass on this one.

So would you perhaps say that in Avadon the story is more complex, while the mechanics are simpler? I'm asking because I didn't find the Avernum / Exile games particularly complex, but simplification for a more complex story might be welcome.
Decent game and worth a go, although it's a bit short and linear for my liking. I'd probably recommend the Avernum/Geneforge games instead.

Complex? Hm... hard to tell, but it is far more focused and linear, so it is possible that you'll enjoy it more.

I've always meant to buy this, and then not bought it, on the theory that I should finish the Spiderweb games I already own first. But if you're going to put it on sale....

Thanks. I'll look some let's play and see how it turns out.
Great game, with outdated graphics, but solid game play., I already have it through the Humble Indie Bundle and guess what? It has a native Linux version which works flawlessly. GOG, get with the times already and start supporting Linux as a viable gaming platform. At least for the games that have a native version. Some Good *old* games that have this support are Neverwinter Nights and Unreal Tournament 2004.

You can get a large demo on the Spiderweb site:
http://www.spiderwebsoftware.com/avadon/

The page doesn't explicitly say so, but those download links are demos which you can later register with a key.
Great game. Available on Android too.
