Enter for a chance to receive a bundle of 66 indie games!

With today's addition of FEZ the number of indie games in GOG.com catalog amounts to 66. It's a nice sounding number (about 2/3rds of 100!), so we thought celebration is in order. What better way is there to celebrate games, than by giving away free games? (Here's a hint: there is no better way.) So, for the next 6 days everyone gets the chance to enter our sweepstakes--and the prizes are truly sweet. One lucky person will receive an enormous bundle of all the 66 indie games from our catalog. Eleven more people will be awarded 6 indie games of their choice each. Here's how you enter:

Do you see the entry form below? All you need to do is provide us with your valid email address. That's it, you're in! You get exactly one entry in the sweepstakes. Optionally, you can make your chances better by doing two things for us: you can tweet about our sweepstakes for an extra entry (there's a Twitter field already filled out for you--if you don't want to tweet, make sure it's blank before submitting your entry), and notify your Facebook friends (a pop-up will pop-up upon completing the form). You'll be awarded an extra entry for every friend that enters from your referral. All this social-sharing is purely optional, of course.

Note: the sweepstakes entry is now closed. Winners will be contacted soon.

Is the entry form not working for anyone else? I click on the Enter button but it gives no indication that it succeeded in sending in my entry.

Well, the url http://https://secure.gog.test/news/the_raffle_app_testing_site# might be the problem
just reload the website and you see your entries / tickets

tokisto: Hmmm, it´s better then. Still I´d prefer 66 winners. I doubt the winner will play all the games someday.
avatar
hedwards: Well, yeah, especially seeing as Twitter users get free entries for spamming.

Whitewraith: Got to love how being generous can be twisted into being soulless

hedwards: This isn't generous, this is a marketing move. If they were really being generous, they wouldn't be giving people additional entries for spamming Twitter followers.

Remember that this is a retail store and not a charity the ultimate motivation here is advertisements and referrals.
Sometimes I forget that GOG is a store. `Cause business things here smooth and community nice sometimes I skip the pure $ part. And I was greedy, only expecting GOG members being reward and not thinking at the GOg marketing move.

It was easier for me to recommend them back early on. These days, with the marketing often times being done in such a hamfisted way, it's hard for me to feel good about promoting them.

I don't respect stores that reward people for spamming.

Thanks for the reminder. I have probably a third of those elsewhere, didn't even occur to me to vote for them here.

G-Doc: Don't worry guys :-) We're preparing a contest targeted mostly to our active community members. It will be ran exclusively in the forums, with just some sort of announcement in social media. Give us two weeks or so.
Will there be an announcement elsewhere? I only get updates from the RSS feed, don't use any of that "social media" crap at all.

Wonderful initiative! Voted for 22.
Glad to see one's vote doesn't count more if one is spamming on Twitter. Or does it?

I agree, furthermore GOG already has a lot more publicity than any other digital distribution service outside of Steam, why then try to get even more with a stupid stunt and risk suffering a backlash for it. It's stupid indeed, they're effectively utilize their users as a marketing tool.

As much as I like Gog and TET's hat, they don't seem to think things through as much as they might. And I guess I do have some conflicted feelings about it, because it does mean that they do some interesting stuff that other stores would never risk doing, but OTOH, they put things out there like this without really explaining what the rules are entirely.

But, in general, offering up extra chances to win for spamming friends isn't something that reflects well on them. I certainly wouldn't come here and buy anything if my first exposure was somebody spamming me the site URL.

Edit: And now the Facebook post I made didn't count. This app thingy sucks.

I haven't bothered to read the whole thread, so I don't know if this has been mentioned. It's cool and all that GOG wants to offer games for members advertising to their friends, but the entry system seems open to exploitation.

What's to stop someone from creating a million email accounts, and using each one to enter? If each email is a ticket, that's a million chances for them. I would think this would work better if say, GOG had an email on file for each account, and then entering your email automatically enters your account in the contest. This would ensure only one entry per customer (ignoring accounts created during the contest period).

I like GOG and don't want to see them get screwed, but also don't want to see them rewarding spammers and non-customers.

nijuu: why don't people like helping Gog spread the word via social media?. I'm not a big twitter user... more on Fb.I love gog and want to spread the word among friends and the like.its a valid marketing exercise for Gog.why not?

It don’t count POSTS. It count „every friend that enters from your referral”.

So I entered through your link. Did you get an extra entry for it?
After it all it says: "Get 1 bonus entry every time anyone enters from http://j.mp/66indiesGOG".
