Don't Starve Even More!

Don't Starve: Reign of Giants DLC is now available on GOG.com for 10% off the regular price at just $4.49 until 09:59 AM GMT on 07 May (the base game "Don't Starve" is required to play.).

Don't Starve is a charming game about working in a all-you-can-eat buffet, where the daily challenges are few and simple. In "Reign of the Giants", a visiting basketball team literally falls in your lap from the sky above like a rain of gian--no, wait. I'm told that all of the above is a lie. Let me try again:

Don't Starve is a game about not starving. This sounds like it could be easy, but literally every single freaking thing around would be happiest if you starved. From the seasons to the wildlife, everything is busy taking food from the food chain and putting it somewhere other than in your stomach. It's not an easy game, but definitely a rewarding one once you have figured out how to balance all of the challenges.

Which is where Reign of Giants comes in: now with torrential rains in spring and blistering droughts in summer, suddenly the "safe" seasons are no longer guaranteed to be quiet and tranquil affairs of OHGODOHGODMONSTERSATEMYFACEOHGOD. There are now more biomes, which means a varied palette of gorgeous new terrain has arrived, and with it have come the concomitant monsters to eat your face. There are new scientific discoveries, new mysteries to plumb, and even new characters to play! Finally--and this may only be a rumor--but there are large creatures in this game, and they might be giants. Spoiler alert: the giants probably want to eat your face.

If you're a fan of games that are hard but fair, games that are filled to the brim with exploration, and experiences that will delight and terrify alike, then you should already own Don't Starve. If you do own Don't Starve--or if we've piqued your interest in it with this DLC--then you should own the Reign of Giants DLC. It's the bee's knees of third-person survival sim terror, and it's 10% off for just $4.49 until 09:59 AM GMT on 07 May.

I tried to install the DLC but it tells me that "This version of core game is not supported. Please update your version with the latest patch from GOG."

I'm already on 2.6 the current version so not sure what to do....

Same issue here. I've got the most recent installer for Don't Starve installed, but it won't let me install the DLC.

strawberrykiller: I must play the base game on the weekend and after that I thinking about the DLC.
If you're going to fully explore the base game over a single weekend, you're going to be rather busy ;-)

It does with the newest installer that I put up. Sorry about that :)

This is excellent news; I had seen the "upcoming" game card and had thought this wouldn't come out for another month.

You'd better update both the OP and the game card with this information. Make it feature prominently, so people don't miss it.
I've been waiting for this to come to gog and i just bought it.
Oh wow I could have sworn this said MAY 30 in the coming soon notes - neat!
It's a tough choice. It's nice to get it here finally, and at 10% off to boot. Problem is, Steam users have been able to preorder the game and play it for a month now at 20% off (and still can as of this post). I wish this had been handled a bit better. I'll definitely get the expansion, I just don't know if I'll do it day one anymore.

An extra save slot should not be a feature of a paid DLC release. That should be a free additional feature in the form of a patch, IMHO...
I would like to point out that this dlc is still in early access. It has been confirmed in Steam threads.

Here the developer declaration on Steam:

“After a brief alpha test, we're putting Reign of Giants on Early Access!

Over the past few weeks, we've been using our forums (http://forums.kleientertainment.com/forum/60-dont-starve-reign-of-giants-beta-live/) as a place for players to post bug reports, feedback, and suggestions. At this point we've implemented almost all of the content, fixed many of the major issues that have been found, and implemented some cool suggestions from the community.

However, the game isn't done!
It's still missing a few pieces of content and will definitely have additional bugs and balance issues. To iron that stuff out, we're going on Early Access so that we can get even more people playing and getting their eyes on the game. During our Early Access period, we're hoping players will continue to submit bug reports, suggestions, and feedback on our forums so that we can make the expansion as balanced, polished, and fun as possible.

What you can expect from us: regular updates to add the last few pieces of content, fix bugs, balance the game, and generally address the feedback on the forums.

So check out Reign of Giants, sign up on our forums, and let us know what you think!”

These declarations are always removed on Steam when the game is fully released just for information so we can conclude the game is still in early access and I checked the developers forum and there is no declaration off full release yet.

GOG says this is the full edition, I believe that...

It's a timed release set for 2 hours 23 minutes from now according to the counter on the store page. It is a full release, it just won't be released on steam for another few hours.

I don't know. Its a very strange way to do a release without confirming it anywhere.
I'm excited to see this show up here. Definitely picking this one up soon. :)
