Walk like an Egyptian.

Children of the Nile Complete, a visually appealing and complex, yet accessible, historical city-building sim set in the colorful and fascinating ancient Egypt, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours!

With power, comes responsibility. With power given by the gods themselves, comes the greatest responsibility of them all. A Pharaoh is a god, walking the Earth, and it's not only the earthly fate of the people that rests in his hands. He is to lead them into and in the afterlife as well. He needs to make sure, he'll never be forgotten, because if the memory of him is lost, lost are the souls of his worshipers and subjects. The fates of the Pharaoh and the Children of the Nile are bound forever--in this life and the next. It is up to him to provide stability, wealth, and safety of the people in both worlds. Building monuments to ensure immortality, while taking care of the mortal flesh--now, isn't that a task worthy of the son of the gods?

Children of the Nile Complete is a city-builder game that combines high level of detail and accessibility in gameplay. Starting your dynasty of Pharaohs is quite easy, making its glory last for generations, however, will prove challenging. The game's appealing visuals make your efforts feel very rewarding, as you see your loyal subjects prospering, the land flourishing, and your city growing--all a testament to your god-given power. The Complete edition offered here, contains both the basic Children of the Nile game, and its Alexandria expansion, to provide you with dozens of hours of deep and realistic gameplay.

Do you feel the calling to become the representative of the gods on Earth, start your own dynasty, and lead the Children of the Nile through many generations to come? Better get going, then! Get the game for only $3.99 and set out for Egypt today! The offer lasts until Tuesday, August 6, at 9:59AM GMT.

Also Caeser 1 and 2 and the Chinese one - Rise of the Middle Kingdom IIRC

I love me some city builder but I've only just got through the 1st Adventure of Zeus after hours and hours, then there's Poseidon and I can now pick up my Pharaoh saves now I've got the GOG version after losing m retain disk, then Cleopatra then Caesar 3 so I couldn't imagine getting onto this one any time this century!

It is... different. Most notably, you don't have money, per se - you only need the construction materials for buildings, BUT people get paid in food, which they use as a currency to pay for goods and services.
Also, you don't just build generic house blocks - you designate each one to be the home of a certain type of worker/shopkeeper/etc.
It is certainly an interesting twist, and I couldn't say if it's better or worse than the other city builders.

Last couple of days is my guess. Horrible design, isn't it? :)

BTW, re: Children of the Nile -- it's a truly excellent game. I played it when it came out and enjoyed it even more than Caesar III and that's one of my favorite city builders.

Well well worth 4 bucks, IMO.

It's just a bit poorly designed. Screens are far too small and squashed into the main information about the game, like an afterthought.

I can see why they did it, as they're trying to give more prominent placing to other games on the right column to get people to buy more, which I think is a good idea. I just think there's a better design :)

Plus, in most cases, the right hand column is actually better on the left as that's where people's eye is naturally drawn on the computer screen when a page loads (that's what Google AdSense recommends for their ads, as more people click on them when they are on the left as on the right).

That means, in many cases, more people would notice the "Customers who bought this game also bought" panel MORE if it was on the left than on the right.

Just sayin :)

Looks fine as is to me, to be honest. Screenshots could be a little bigger, I suppose, but it doesn't really matter since you can click on them the same way as before. Plus, they've not only added a section at the right where you can easily find other games in a series but also done the same for DLC, which no longer takes up room on your games page anymore as if they were standalone games.

Anyway, for $4 I may pick this up. Not a particularly huge fan of city builders though, so who knows?
Series discounts! :D
