There times where we marvel and fear animals of all species large and small. So I feel like discussing it. So here are the rules:

You must pick one animal of the species category, Avian, Mammal, Reptile, Insectoid, Aquatic, etc. So discuss.

Me:

Avian: Ravens

Mammals: Grey Wolves (They are the most family oriented of the canivorous mammals)

Reptiles: Turtles (what facisnates me of Turtles/Tortoises is their long life spans, imagine being able to live 100 years and the world around you changes yet you remain the same)

Insectoid: Ants (They are like their own society)

Aquatic:Cephalopods (Squids/Octopus) the most clever of sea animals.
Avian: Duck

Mammals: Tough choice. I'll go with lamb.

Reptiles: Can't say I've tried them. Might be willing to give it a chance though.

Insectoid: Nope.

Aquatic: Frankly, almost all of them. If I were to select one I'll go with squid/octopus just like you!

How about:

Avians: Owls
Mammals: Humans (even though they are technically an invasive species)
Reptiles: Whiptail lizards, specifically the all female species
Insectoid: I'll go with fireflies here
Aquatic: Elysia chlorotica (It's a snail that does photosynthesis, see http://www.wired.com/2010/01/green-sea-slug/
http://www.independent.com/news/2010/jan/30/first-known-photosynthetic-animal/ (even has a picture)
Also, sponges.

Edited to change my choice for Reptiles (was turtles)

Did that happen in the Manga?

No idea. I never read the manga.

Considering how different the film and the manga seem to be, I wouldn't be surprised if this scene was exclusive to the former.

Avian: Owl. I fed and hydrated a baby which fell from a tree on may. Kept it caged to protect from cats and wild dogs of the area. Poor thing liked my arm and used to stand on it, grabbing with claws firmly, then tried to fly upwards and usually failed. I hugged and petted it, even though i read they don't like that the least bit, i couldn't resist, it was very cute! When it started flying normally, i returned to the very same tree, for a happy reunion with two others. Now every night it howls next to my window (argh, there goes my sleep...)!

Mammal: Cats! I love domesticated house cats! Cutest thing ever! Feral ones became more domestic and friendly to me than your typical pedigree one. They groom me, they happy bite me, they want hugs all the time or else they nag horribly, sometimes even they undertake the role of my personal alarm clock (in the past, this saved my ass twice because i got to work just in time) or even stylist (groom my hair, ewww...)! I also like hedgehogs a lot, but i can choose only one, and besides, hedgehogs aren't 24/7 with me, like my feline babies!

Reptile: Toads! They are large, funny and most importantly, eating bugs and pests! Plus, hordes of young ones ribbitting and hoping at night is fun to watch! Big ones are so lazy, that when you try to catch them, instead of hopping away, they WALK LAZILY away...

Insectoid: Ladybug, hands down. I catch them and let them walk on me, they are adorable little buggers and they don't bug me at all! Plus they are said to eat/kill pests for useful plants.

Aquatic: Turritopsis dohrnii, the immortal jellyfish. Never saw one up close, though.
Avian: Penguin. I like the way they walk and their lack of fear of humans.

Mammal: Orca. Smart and friendly, like all dolphins. Orcas look the coolest though.

Reptile: Penguin. See above.

Insectoid: Praying mantis. They look cool, and maybe have some degree of intelligence, maybe? I remember holding them in my hands when I was a kid.

Aquatic: either Penguin or Orca. See above.
Avian: Kingfisher

Mammal: Mongoose

Reptile: Chameleon

Amphibian: Axolotl

Insects: Orchid Mantis

Aquatic: Sea Horsies!

Done correctly octopus is one of the best things that I've ever eaten. Love squid too. Mackerel. Tuna (not the canned stuff, like the only seafood like stuff I just don't eat). Halibut... Getting ahead of myself.

Avian: Duck (just 'cause I like them. Strangely enough not for eating.)
Mammal: I had a dog that is one of my mostly fondly remembered friends, but I don't like dogs that much. Or cats. Ya know, if I had to pick a favorite I'll say dogs but that's not saying a heckuva lot.
Insect: I'll go with ants.
Reptiles: I like turtles as well, I'll go with them. (used to have lizards but they died. Actually, one of them kind of humorously gorged itself on a cricket and so he died. It was sad at the time, trust me.)
Aquatic: Lots of them taste so good, but left intact and alive I'll say... stingrays taste pretty good too... Um... I dunno.
I will never be this bored.
Avian: Penguins
Mammals: Bottlenose Dolphins
Reptile: Turtles
Insectoid: Rosy Maple Moth
Aquatic: Bottlenose Dolphins
