Elenarie: Meh. You could probably develop one yourself (drag and drop everything, the app doesn't need a good interface since you won't be seeing it much). The exact examples needed for creating n-ary tiles are available on MSDN, and since Steam adds handling support for the Steam protocol, you would just need to make the tiles a hyperlink. Easy.

(since you're doing it only for yourself, you won't have to connect to Steam's APIs to query for the users' games and whatever)

About GOG, I am guessing the same would be possible if the Registry is queried to check which games are installed, probably HKLM\SOFTWARE\GOG.com\GameNameHere.

I've not played with WinRT and Registry access yet, but if it is fully supported, it shouldn't be hard to pull off.

Elenarie: Forget what I said about the Registry, WinRT applications don't have access to the Registry at all. Coupled with the fact that WinRT applications cannot launch other applications by calling their executables...

... They'll need to provide a desktop application (like the downloader, for example) that creates, registers, and handles a protocol, for example, gog://.

Then they'll need to create a WinRT application that pulls the users' information about which games they own. And enable users to create n-ary tiles for the games that they have.

And when the tile for a particular game is clicked, the WinRT application would need to call the protocol gog://GameName, then the desktop client / the downloader would need to handle the call and launch or start downloading that particular game.

Really don't see that happening in the near future.

sloganvirst: Can't it just like when I install something it adds a shortcut that would normally go on the start menu to the start screen, except be a proper tile instead of just the little icon?
