By the way, its not just the installers. Its the whole Games Explorer that is messed up. For example, I cannot add new titles into it. Dunno what bugged it to be this way. ><
Microsoft really need to fix this.

Yeah, it doesn't help the new GE is just dumb vs Vistas.

Yes, but that is not the point. Clearly this thing does not function the way it should. If there is anything that I don't like about Windows 7, it is the Games Explorer. It is quite a nice feature, just its implementation wasn't really good.
Unless VGE got a new version since December, it isn't really great on Win 7. It totally hosed my GE last time I used it. I just hate all the Unspecified categories for every GOG game I have. It makes me not want to install them. Have any games had there installer fixed? All the newer games install just fine.

salan: Just started to follow this thread. I now have a laptop with Windows 7 on so interested.
I offer this thought/solution to people about compatibility, I use VMWare Workstation a lot and version 7 HAS 3D video support and seems to work very well..
Not cheap, and hard to justify the cost for games, but as I use it for other things, well worth it.
With regards to Linux etc, I have DOSBOX compiled and running and have managed to use nearly all my gog games on Ubuntu no problem.

xedth2: I also use VMware to run some games that don't work that well on Win7. I'm running windows 7 64 bit on my laptop and the only game I've had a problem with is Fallout 2. There is a freeware version of VMware out there that you can use. Though you'll still need a copy of XP. I'm enjoying GOG and am looking forward to more DRM free games. Happy gaming.

Another good option for virtualization is Virtual Box. It's totally free (GNU) and made by Sun, so it has good support. It has worked well for me.
For anyone that's not noticed, Syberia and the other two upcoming titles are listed as Windows 7 compatible. I'm guessing all future titles will be. :)
Rainbow Six is working on Win7 64 bit (quadcore, radeon 4850)
sexeh dat.

Nice to hear. Now all we need is for the already released titles to be made Win 7 compatible, so that I would finally be able to play them without screwing my Games Explorer.
All of GoG's games that rely on DOSBox can be ran on everything. All you need is to use is the entire folder, just reference DOSBox to the .conf file and their other programs are useless. Heck, you could even use a DOSBox Frontloader to do all of this for youu, (like d-fend)

Tirpitz: Because many of You seek this knowledge I hereby bestow this Official Statement upon Thee:
We are still working on ensuring Win7 compatibility. Considering the quantity of games in our catalogue it will require us some time to make sure that this quantity comes with quality. So I do assure You that once GOG.com games are compatible with Windows7 a proper notice will appear on our site. After all that would be something boast, wouldn't it? :)
Did u any progress about Messiah on W7? =)
I was all set to start buying up my whole wish list and install them all now that I finally have a gaming computer, and of course it has Win 7 :(
This thread made me happy and hopeful again. I'm going to go look at that comminuty maintained list of games that already work, and maybe some of my wish list will be on there. That'd be great. :)

Check the page of each game. Most newly released games are Windows 7 compatible. Like Syberia, for example. :)
