icantype: Westerado: Double Barelled also has an unlockable playable female character. The game is (unfortunately) not yet on GOG, however.

seppelfred: I would love to buy the game here. It looks very interesting.
Just for additional information: even with the steam version after having the game downloaded it does not require to have steam running anymore. Just in case you even do use steam at all.

I avoid steam like the plague. Valve sees no money from me since they launched steam, and they never will.

That is completely all right. I just wanted to point it out in case it would be different.

SamyMerchi: IMO, people don't have to justify what kind of games they play.

tinyE: I wish people would remember that before they give me shit for being a HuniePop freak.
I've been thinking of dipping a toe into the HuniePop type games. Would you say HuniePop is a good game to start that sort of genre with?

it's not really a genre. It's a Bejweled clone with smut. :P
Gotcha, I guess I was thinking dating sims in general then.

I didn't know that. Thanks!

I do hope that's not why the asker is looking for games with female protagonists.

I do know he or she asked for "playable women"....

:)
Playing Saints Row the 3rd...Bare with with me! :D

I am playing as a female and I just killed someone dressed as a horse. I think that should count as a woman in a Wild West game.

Uhm... no. Now put your pants back on.

If you are interested in such things I do recommend this thread here. In the OP of the thread there also is a link to complete list with games that are playable without the need to have steam running to run the game.

HuniePop is a great game. In core like said it's a well done Bejeweled Clone but it has some features in it that makes this far more interesting (no, I don't mean the girls). On the other side it's a dating sim that does not take itself seriously at all. The love fairy character alone is such a great "character". Actually if you play the game censored there is nothing obscene in it (in case you don't like that kind of stuff) and if you want to play it uncensored there's a thread for it how to do it. I finished this game 100% and enjoyed ebery minute.

Unfortunately you are not able to play either of the women and I also cannot remember any wild west setting so it does not fit this thread :)

Doesn’t Hard West have female playable characters? I’m not far enough into the game, but you can see a female character being controlled by the player in this Eurogamer video.
