This is not a typical concern coming from a customer, but because I love CDprojekt above all other RPG developers by far, this low price concerns me greatly. If it were any other games from other developers, I would not be even wondering why the products are offered cheap.

Dragon Age Inquisition and other typical AAA games sell at (Canadian) $69.99 and usually don't offer pre-order discounts; The Witcher 3's base price is $59.99, offers 10% pre-order discount, and another 10% loyalty discount. I can buy TW3 on gog for $42.29, and that's 60% of other games.

Why is TW3 being sold at such a low price, considering it's an AAA RPG that took years to develop? TW3 will have narrower audience base compared to games like Skyrim and Dragon Age, which means its sales figure will be inevitably smaller. On top of that you have CD projekt offering the game at upto 40% cheaper price than their competitors. We won't be getting paid DLCs either, which makes me wonder what kind of reasoning is behind their price tag.

Frankly I'm worried if CDprojekt is in a financial difficulty that they needed to get quick cash by pre-order discounts or if CDprojekt won't make enough profits from the game as much as they could, since I don't think the niche RPG fans who love TW will be discouraged from buying the game simply because TW is offered at the same price as other games. Even considering lower personnel expense in Poland, this doesn't make sense to me.

Call me silly, but really why isn't TW3 being sold at $70 like other titles that had less development time? I would be glad to pay more for CDprojekt and TW series.

Maybe because in the post-retail world, people are raking it in hand over fist on digital sales, and CDPRED can handle the price it's being sold at? Maybe because 69.99 and up is just too much? Maybe because CDPRED? Maybe also because they're selling the expansion pack preorder for $20, too? And who said we won't be getting paid DLC? I haven't heard that anywhere. I've heard we'll be having 16 free DLC for people, but I haven't heard them say no to DLC, period.

Concerns you greatly, hey? Very concerning thing, certainly. I'm assuming you've already mailed CDPRED a cheque for the difference.
im also greatly concerned about this, The Witcher is an amazing IP since the begining and i dont see the point of selling it for such a low price

What? I don't get why you guys need to be over excited.

Here are facts. I wrote them in the op but to reinforce:

1. TW3's base price is cheaper than other AAA titles.
2. TW3 also offers pre order discount on top of loyalty discount.

Since the TW3 is given a huge publicity which will translate to good sales, I don't see why it needs to offer 20~40% lower price tag compared to other RPGs in the market.

Is it so alarming that a huge fan of CDprojekt is willing to pay the same price for TW3 as other RPGs? What's the problem here when I'm simply making in inquiry rather than insisting a price increase for TW3?

If anything you guys are overreacting. I don't see how I'm sowing discontents by raising a question. It's not like I'm proposing paid DLC, am I?

I haven't seen a $69.99 game since the first Deadrising. All the new games I get are $59.99, including the ones you mentioned. And this wouldn't be the first time a company gave discounts on their games for owning another in the series, this one is just better but even then you have to own both games to make a big difference.

I want to support my favourite game developer, and TW3's 20%~40% lower price on top of no paid DLC policy does make me wonder why such price was decided. It's not as if I'm wondering "Why isn't TW3 more expansive than other games?" or "Why doesn't CDprojekt have paid DLC like other companies?"

Moreover, I did not complain; I said I was concerned, and I've not seen this question anywhere on forum hence I decided to ask. This is a legitimate concern and I don't think laughing at a question is any wiser than the asking the question no matter how silly it may be.

To some of other commentators: Please don't overreact and make constructive feedback if you have any input on the topic instead of instantly resorting to ad hominems.

If you're so concerned about the price being so low what's sttoping you to buy 2 copies, or even more?
Show your support for this "cheap priced" game
Because GOG/CD Projekt are infinitely more awesome than all the other AAA publishers whose only goal is maximizing profit and who don't give a single flying fuck about their customers.
You know I asked my girlfriend that same thing. Why do you charge everyone so much less to sleep with you than you charge me?

I'm concerned, and above all curious. I will support CDprojekt in my own way which is not your concern, thank you very much.

Can you not divert the topic towards irrelevant comments? I'm asking why the price was set as such, and you are reacting as if I'm trying to steal your wallet.

Is the game cheaper? Good for us, but there are reasons why other AAA titles are sold at $70. CDprojekt decided against it and it's natural some(obviously you don't. I do.) of us want to know why.

Yeah, gotta agree there. The US "obligatory price" for virtually all new AAA games is $60, no matter where you might buy it (gotta love monopolistic collusion in the market). Generally speaking, outside of deals like the 10% deal GOG is offering (which are exceedingly rare), no AAA game has a price lower than that for up to years after its initial release. Usually the deals that are offered aren't even discounts, but more along the lines of "free Witcher t-shirt to the first 100 buyers". No retailer in my area has it for less than $60, and that includes major retailers like Walmart, Gamestop, Meijer, etc. (okay, Walmart does have it for $59.96 instead of $59.99).

did it ever crossed your mind the thought that those "other AAA titles sold at $70" are overpriced?
