low rated
This is not a typical concern coming from a customer, but because I love CDprojekt above all other RPG developers by far, this low price concerns me greatly. If it were any other games from other developers, I would not be even wondering why the products are offered cheap.
Dragon Age Inquisition and other typical AAA games sell at (Canadian) $69.99 and usually don't offer pre-order discounts; The Witcher 3's base price is $59.99, offers 10% pre-order discount, and another 10% loyalty discount. I can buy TW3 on gog for $42.29, and that's 60% of other games.
Why is TW3 being sold at such a low price, considering it's an AAA RPG that took years to develop? TW3 will have narrower audience base compared to games like Skyrim and Dragon Age, which means its sales figure will be inevitably smaller. On top of that you have CD projekt offering the game at upto 40% cheaper price than their competitors. We won't be getting paid DLCs either, which makes me wonder what kind of reasoning is behind their price tag.
Frankly I'm worried if CDprojekt is in a financial difficulty that they needed to get quick cash by pre-order discounts or if CDprojekt won't make enough profits from the game as much as they could, since I don't think the niche RPG fans who love TW will be discouraged from buying the game simply because TW is offered at the same price as other games. Even considering lower personnel expense in Poland, this doesn't make sense to me.
Call me silly, but really why isn't TW3 being sold at $70 like other titles that had less development time? I would be glad to pay more for CDprojekt and TW series.
