Another thing that might prevent people from backing the game is that it doesn't really seem to offer any replay value. At least with WL2 and Shadowrun you're going to have some replay value either in the form of fan-made missions/levels or branching paths that can only be accessed with a different playstyle.

if they want to make 1-7 remakes before making LSL 8 , it will take like 20 years...

I think the point and click adventurers are dead, I have a few but im very busy to get stuck in a game and because these days its so easy to look in a walktrough wich is my problem that kind of games I check a walktrough to fast ending the game too much earlier then It was intended with that kind of games.

Ahem, Double Fine ADVENTURE got 3 million. Adventure genre has tons of fans that are dismayed at lack of good such games nowadays :P

The original larry is one on my favourites, mainly because of nostalgia. Personally I wasn't really impressed by the first remake. The attempt to make a parser to a point-click game didn't worked well and you can see how they badly tried it (starting with the password, calling a taxi, ordering a drink, etc). Here I see many possibilities for improvements, but only If they don't try another 1:1 remake. From what i've read (Al will expand the story if they got xyz$) I don't believe that will happen,

Personally I would love if they would add a parallel story with Eve (girl from the end), like what they did later with Patti. You can see very often her dog peeing at larry, so it's possible she isn't very far. Leading both to the happy end would be fun and a reall interesting remake. But yes, another 1:1 remake just with better graphics would be really boring.

Edit: Yes, the idea is also somewhat similar to the Broken Swords remakes. Playing also as Nicole in the first remake was the only real improvement for me to the original.

The original is the original I guess, it remains in our hearts and minds and is hard to deviate from. Even the Monkey Island remakes were only slightly interesting to me, I would play the originals if I ever wanted MI or MI2 again.

A new game is always better. The most I want for old games is an HD re-release on consoles.

Haha, I remember it took me like 20-30 minutes to figure out how to call for a taxi in remake, gold times, haha :D

But even Larry 7 had some ridiculous moments (like where to find a "doorbell" for that strip dices chick...)

My girlfriend loves Monkey Island, but there is no way she would ever contemplate playing the original version. It's the same for a friend at work, who had never played MI before I gave sent him the games on Steam.

Personally I like re-makes, and I would love it if my favourite RPGs could be re-released. Especially if they could include some extra content (and even add-ons).

I have, however, more or less given up on point-and-click adventures. The last one I truly liked was Day of the Tentacle (which is also my all time favourite adventure game), and that's the main reason I've contributed to the Double Fine Adventure. I don't expect the game to be for me, but at least I think my girlfriend will like it.

If you prefer to "fast ending" the game than take the time to figure it out on your own, then clearly this is not your genre of games.

Thats one reason I like remakes, it gives new people chance to learn about old series that they would otherwise not have gotten into, whether because game isn't sold anymore or because interface is confusing by nowadays standards.

Well it's a completely different thing for new fans, but new fans are not going to fund kickstarters.

You sure? I pledged on Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun despite never playing them before.(I hope in latter case they remember the paypal donates :P it would be annoying to never get the game when its released because of that)

I mean that the game at this time was diffecult because you needed too find it on your own but it was a time i didnt had any money too buy a lot of games so i had time, now i have 40+ back log games so i need to finish some games fast so i use a walktrough.
