Oh man I'm bumping this. We really need this project funded, Sierra classics are coming back...I hope!

New video, this time its Paul Trowe who talks.
That's a good question. Wasteland 2 reached 2 million dollars with ease, but LSL is having trouble reaching it's goal of a half million. I think there's various factors to that. Particulary, I don't have money to fund every project I find interesting in Kickstarter (and there's a lot of them), and I also don't like to pay for something I have no idea how it will end up or even if it's gonna come out.

EdgeZombie: It lost a lot of fans with the latest games probably. If I had any before, Box Office Bust made me lose interest in anything Leisure Suit Larry related.
For entirely wrong reasons. Al Lowe wasn't involved with the last two games, it was just a greedy publisher driving a once great series to the ground. Now is the the last chance to slowly restore Larry's reputation. We deicide that. If that kickstarter fails (which i don't see happening), Larry is dead forever (and so is our chance to see other Sierra franchises brought back).

Question is, do adventure gamers (not just the hardcore Larry fans) want the old ones brought back as remakes? Or do they want new stuff and sequels?
Judging by the demand for a new LSLL game, the comments on J. Jensen's campaign for a GK sequel (or prefering Moebius because it feels more like a new GK game) and the success of DF, I'd say we want new content.

If the plan is to remake every single LSLL game up to #7, then you can't seriously blaim people for not holding their breths for a new Larry game.

It could also have to do with the fact that the LSLL games were a bit peculiar in theme, and while very exciting for minors and for the time of their initial release, they may not apeal to an older audience today, unless theyr're hardcore fans of the franchise.

Still, it's not doing bad, I think it's more that people now seem to expect every "big" name to make milliions within days or a week's time. Can't happen, if for no other reason than people having only that much money they can put in these campaigns.
Everyone wanted to jump on Kickstarter while it was hot news because of DF, but there was always the possibility it'd sort of backfire - just look at how many interesting projects end their campaign by end of April.

I can only speak for myself, but i'm overjoyed that Tex Murphy will start when everyone else will be done.
I'm a backer because I really think that kickstarter is the only, only way we will see adventure games make a comeback.
To be honest, there's quite a few reasons why I didn't invest into this game:

- it's a remake of a remake of a remake. I've completed the first game about 10 times across its different versions and a 4th version just doesn't appeal to me.

- I don't even WANT the cartoonish looks and any voices since I like my imagination to create them in my head (and frankly, most voices in adventure games are completely wrong I find). I prefer the early 90s graphics by far

- they should simply make a new LSL game if it's going to cost that much.
This is the first thread on GoG that is as bad as a steam forums thread, for shame people, for shame. Read the FAQ before complaining about something that they already satisfactorily answered.

Well first I doubt they would touch 6 or 7 due to them both being by a different team and terrible as hell. And second remaking 1-5 wouldn't take that long. 1 is short, as is 2. and 4 is non existent.

JudasIscariot: It's not even a remake. It's a remake of a remake.

At least the other guys are bringing something new to their older franchises not remaking the exact same game but with prettier colors and lighting.
Actually Al said that he wants to put new puzzles, rooms, and characters in the game.

Uhm, no 6 and 7 are both by Al Lowe, and both are fantastic as well. LSL6 is "Shape Up or Slip Out", and LSL7 is "Love For Sail".

Sorry got my numbers mixed up (fuck you Al).
I am wondering if the previous two larry games are the reason for the low number of backers.
But I have decided to backed it.

To be fair, I think they stopped with the numbers after 6, so Love for Sail is really just called Leisure Suit Larry - Love For Sail. I guess the joke can only be taken so far.

just because they have answered questions, doesn't mean they have done so satisfactorily. there are many reasons not to invest in the lsl kickstarter, some issues have been answered in the faq (unsatisfactorily in my opinion) but i can't be bothered going into detail. i will be spending my $$ elsewhere.

Not answered to your satisfaction doesn't mean they weren't answered and posting your complaints as if they were unresolved is intellectually dishonest. Looking between the original and the first remake there seems to be no real differences beyond cosmetic as well, so calling it a remake of a remake is just combative because both the original and the remake are essentially the same game.

That being said if you don't want to fund it don't (I will because out of everything I see that I want to get made this seems like it needs my money the most).
