hercufles: I mean that the game at this time was diffecult because you needed too find it on your own but it was a time i didnt had any money too buy a lot of games so i had time, now i have 40+ back log games so i need to finish some games fast so i use a walktrough.
lol, you make it sound more like some timed task than enjoyment.

MaskedCreep: Wait, Monkey Island games have horrible remakes? O_o

ET3D: I played the special edition (i.e., remake) of The Secret of Monkey Island and quite enjoyed it. Sure it wasn't perfect, but it was far from horrible. I think it was monkey well spent. (Edit: That was a genuine typo. I'll leave it as it was. I LOL'ed reading it back.)

Regarding the LSL Kickstarer, it's actually doing better than Jane Jensen's one, and she's not doing a remake.
J. Jensen's Kickstarter is more like a subscription - for $50 you get everything the studio develops in the next year.
The lower pledges get you one game + one game OST, problem being the game is yet to be decided (I know, I know DF did the same and nobody cared). Maybe it'll pick up after the vote for the game.

What's more interesting is that for $30 you get the "best of the year" game OST, but there isn't a pool of games or OSTs to pick the "best of the year".
Maybe a clarification is needed.

Sierra games were nasty back and even had puzzles that didnt make sense.

Being a Larry fan, I have to say it's an interesting project.
Especially if he then continued with the others (after the engine is done it should be relatively easy).
But, I would've been a lot more interested if it had been a new Larry game instead of just another remake. That way the Kickstarter goal would've made more sense as well.

Tychoxi: I think the Larry games don't really have the same following a classic RPG or Tim Schafer has and it "just" being a remake is probably keeping people from donating too.

In any case, it's not like they won't reach (and probably surpass) their goal with 24 days to go...
They'll get the money to make it, the question is whether people support a remake of LSL2. They're nearly halfway there already and they have more than 3 weeks to go.

I know there's some griping about how it has the look of a flash game, but the better way to look at it is that flash games have the look of older adventure games. This is how LSL should look as it's better graphics, but true to the original.

ithilien827: Personally I like re-makes, and I would love it if my favourite RPGs could be re-released. Especially if they could include some extra content (and even add-ons).
Agreed. I like it that Baldur's Gate is getting a makeover, with a promise of Planescape: Torment in the future. A lot of RPG's had a nice storyline and gameplay but just look crap by today's standards.

Just read that Kickstarter's FAQ (or watch the latest video update). They want to make a new game. They just have to prove to Codemasters (who own the license) that they can create a game, and they need to do that with the remake.

LSL as a brand has diminished, and the fact that it is a second remake isn't going to get many people going.
Lets be honest. Its more likely to be a reskin job more than a remake. If it goes the same way as the crappy reskin job on the BG remake, i wont pledge. Why bother redoing it???

They can't do just a reskin if they want game to sell, they have to update controls and humor at least.*shrugs*

No, this is not just a reskin. The original is a game from 1987 with EGA graphics and keyboard commands. Even the remake from 1991 is a DOS game with no voice acting. This is an actual remake with new graphics, music, voices and interface.

StingingVelvet: Remake is stupid, should have been a new game.
Exactly. We get free remakes of old games all the time anyway.

And for professional efforts, you didn't see Baldur's Gate: Special Edition on kickstarter :)

Free remakes with low resolution graphics and amateur voice actors

Personally I would gladly pay for a high resolution remakes with professional (and competent) voice actors ,of the King's Quest & Quest for Glory

We don't know the budget nor how the final version will look.
Honestly I thought this one would fail for sure. I'm actually surprised it's looking like it might just get funded. It's not surprising less people are crazy about a 3rd remake of Larry, compared to Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun.

Also, Jane Jensen gets my adventure kickstarter dollars, what little is left after the Wasteland 2 pledge. I'll pledge $15 to Larry to get the game if it actually starts getting close to being funded. Probably.

You realize that if you pledge $15 right now and it doesn't get funded, you don't lose the $15?
hope to see this project funded, i already pledged 25 dollars.

Yeah, you lose nothing if you pledge 15 now unless you don't know whether you want the game or not :P
