MaskedCreep: @DProject: Wasteland is similar to Fallout on some respects and Fallout was inspired by it, but they ARE different and not just superficially.
Yeah, I've looked at a Wasteland gameplay video and sure, it's not LIKE Fallout; I guess what I meant to say is that since both are post-apocalypse RPGs they're sort of the same. And like you said, Fallout was inspired by Wasteland. Anyway, the setting always interests me so that's why I wanted to pledge to Wasteland 2.
Blackwell: Legacy is dubbed. Ok, maybe not so professional, but it is. And it costed not even close to 100,000. Hell, probably not close to 20,000 either.

If they wanted 500k to waste 80% of that money on some kevin costner shit, I won't pay for this game unless it's 100% done...

Blackwell games are Indie games, plus they probably have to pay programmers and other ones who work on it.

Hmm, that is a good point, I suspect that there's a boatload of money going to codemasters for the licensing rights. But, I don't really know.

That being said, LSL doesn't seem to be having too much trouble at this point, they have plenty of time and have already reached the halfway mark of their goal. For something like this, I'm not sure what they would even do with more money. I suppose probably set it aside for LSL2 when they start that one off.

This is exactly why I believe the game is not worth 500k just because Al Lowe makes it....
Anyway, posting rest of interesting FAQ:

"I love the game but I would pledge more if you guys made a brand new Leisure Suit Larry game instead of a re-make of LSL 1

We would LOVE to make a new version of Leisure Suit Larry!! We thought about making LSL 4 (the missing floppies) or 8, or even 69!! The problem is, when we licensed the title from Codemasters back in October (you guys probably saw our big press release), we only licensed the re-makes. So we're doing that to fulfill our obligation. What we REALLY want to do is to make Leisure Suit Larry 8. To do that, though, it costs a hell of a lot more money than $500,000. To put it in perspective, LSL 7 cost about $2mm back in 1996 which is about $3mm today. The reason why we're re-making the original 7 versions is so we can bring them up to date, up to speed, and make enough money to build Leisure Suit Larry 8 (maybe even 4 but Al is a bit reluctant on #4). We really want to hit #8 out of the ball park so being 100% honest here, that means we have to save up enough money from the sales of 1-7 to make #8 which we see costing roughly $5 - $8 million dollars."

"Will you guys add any new content to the game if you exceed your funding goal?

TOTALLY!! Al, Josh, & Paul were on the phone tonight discussing how we can implement new rooms, new girls, new puzzles, and new ways for Larry to get in trouble. So the short answer is yes, if we exceed our funding goal additional game play is in the plan. BUT, it needs to be designed and we don't plan on doing that until we hit our first milestone of our $500k Kickstarter budget."

"I love the Sierra classics!! Can you bring back King's Quest, Space Quest, or Police Quest?

Our good friends over at Tell Tale have licensed King's Quest from Activision. If we do our job right then maybe, just MAYBE we'll be able to partner with them and ruinite the Space Quest team, King's Quest team (go Roberta!!!!) and Police Quest team for re-makes or new versions of those (Space Quest 7 anybody?)."

Really, if they can only make more remakes/sequels if game sells, it sounds almost like it would be more useful to buy the game if it does get funded than fund it and get game that way.

Aren't Blackwell games using freeware engine (AGS)? I'd imagine that reduced costs a lot.
It's an HD remake. I'd be interested in supporting a new game but not a remake. I don't get why would you need $500,000 for it either.

In the FAQ section(I posted that, but I wouldn't be surprised if people thought "Too long to read" they say "Everything else we need to create from scratch: characters, environments, animations, engineering, and even sound effects." Plus from the page itself "The freedom to play on mobile devices" "A modern point-and-click/touchscreen interface" "Updated, ultra-high res graphics" "Fully voiced characters" "Even more of the humor that’s made Al Lowe a household name…like “Borders” and “Enron”!"

So I guess the answer is that they have to pay programmers/designers/writers(because I wouldn't be surprised if they updated the humor somewhat since they do want game to sell and most people nowadays might not get some jokes) and voice actors :P

It's still not a new game, I care very little for remakes especially after the abysmal Monkey Island ones.

It's probably not realistic, but it would be nice if there were a classic mode. Either with original graphics or with updated graphics but all the original gags in it.

The thing that sunk the KQ remakes was that they changed some of the puzzles. Or at least that's my understanding, I loved KQ1.

Wait, Monkey Island games have horrible remakes? O_o
It's not even a remake. It's a remake of a remake.

At least the other guys are bringing something new to their older franchises not remaking the exact same game but with prettier colors and lighting.

Yeah, sub-standard art and with the exception of Dominic, godawful voice acting.
