I'm confused .-. Other old game revivals with their make got their fundings in day or two, but this one isn't and its not even that high goal compared to others. Is it because it is remake? Because LSL series doesn't have that much fans? Because people are too embarrassed to do that? Because last two games that didn't have Al Howe sucked? Because its fans aren't loud enough to advertise it? Because distributors/investors were right about not wanting to be associated with that series?

I'm just confused because I thought that series had fans ._.;
It lost a lot of fans with the latest games probably. If I had any before, Box Office Bust made me lose interest in anything Leisure Suit Larry related.
But those two games have nothing to do with makers of old series .-.

I'd find it very unfortunate if this doesn't get funded because of stupid reason like that =/
Because people don't see the point in a third remake of the original LSL i guess. If it was LSL4, or LSL 8 or whatever the last one was, it'd do way better.

And it's LOWE. ;)

Even so, it has put a pretty bad impression on the series in general for me. I'm not backing because Box Office Bust was a bad game.

Also, I've never cared about Lowe. :p

Oops, sorry ^^;

Well, they surely aren't going to get new game if this one doesn't get funded :P I'm pretty sure that this failing would show interest in series.

Anyway, I guess I'm only person who likes remakes? .-. Though in most cases I haven't got chance to play original game.

@EdgeMaster: Well, do you like old sierra adventure games?

First: they announced the remake some time ago and now they figured out they will pull their hands for some money

Second: 500,000 for a remake?!

Read FAQ section:

"You guys announced this back in October. Why are you asking for the funds now?

This must be the #1 question asked all over the internet today! We announced in October that we secured the development and publishing rights to the original Leisure Suit Larry franchise (series) of games. We showed a 1-room "proof of concept" that helped us secure the rights, so we showed those images in our press release at the time. We originally planned on getting VC (venture capital) funding so we can re-make the entire franchise from scratch for all the new platforms with the best graphics style, voice overs, orchestrated sound, etc. The response we received shocked us. This is what they literally told us "we like your company but we want nothing to do with Leisure Suit Larry since it will tarnish our good name". So it took us a few months to re-think our strategy and when we went to DICE to do the interview with Spike TV, we saw what amazing success our friends at Double Fine had and Tim convinced us to do the same. "

"How come it's costing you $500,000 to do a re-make of Leisure Suit Larry and it only cost Double Fine $400,000 for a brand new game?

This was another really popular question today. I (Paul) just got off the phone with Greg, the producer over at Double Fine and asked him how it was possible to make a full fledged adventure game for $400k when it's costing us $500k to re-make Leisure Suit Larry. He told me that they initially only planned on making a small iOS game with 3 people on the entire team: 1 artist, 1 programmer, and 1 producer. That, plus they already had a game engine they spent millions of dollars making for a previous game whereas we're using the Unity engine and we're starting with the PC English version, which is a huge, huge difference!! The only thing we can re-use is the original design. Everything else we need to create from scratch: characters, environments, animations, engineering, and even sound effects. "

Who is EdgeMaster?

Anyway, I don't think I've ever played the old Sierra Adventure games. I've played some of the LucasArts ones (like the Dig) and quite liked them.
Well, I consider backing LSL remake, but at this moment I'm backing 6 other projects, and I'm not sure how much money I'll have in the end.
They're almost halfway through with almost a month to go, so I don't think that's bad. Sure, raising funds has been little slow for them but I don't think this kickstarter will fail to meet its goal. These projects tend to spike at some point, at least near the end. Maybe the current problems stem from the fact that all these previous Larry titles were widely considered as one of the worst games in history.

I donated 15 dollars to this and Wasteland 2, to me they're the most interesting projects.(Wasteland is like Fallout, my favorite series ever, and Larry 1 was the first adventure game I've ever played, plus it was fun)

@DProject: Wasteland is similar to Fallout on some respects and Fallout was inspired by it, but they ARE different and not just superficially.

@SLP2000: Yeah, I'm too kind of running out of extra money because of pledging :P I'll try to not pledge anymore unless I come in conclusion that project needs everything it can get.

Ah, dang it D: I'm master of getting names wrong I see.

Anyway, I still say its pity if whole series is dead because of two crappy games by different developers/writers.

Hmm, how dirty LSL series(before two final games) even are? .-. I know that they are comedy and that they do have something raunchy but I haven't played them myself. I wouldn't expect them to be much dirty considering how old they are...

I could well be wrong, but the writing is only a portion of the job, creating the graphics and voice overs to go along with the story is expensive if you want to do it right.

Plus, there's also the cost of the physical swag at the various levels that have to be paid for as well. I have a feeling that $500k is probably fairly cheap when you consider things like the QA that's necessary before the game is released.
