Quake .... and you can probably make that Quake Enhanced, though I am yet to get that variant.
Civilization 2. I'm surprised I'm the first one to suggest that.

I recently bought HoMM3 here I really need to try it...
35 years ago I would have said Elite. After all it was dubbed "the game of a lifetime".
These days I'm leaning towards Master of Orion.
Since I have very little time for video games these days, I think Planescape: Torment would be perfect.
It'd honestly be a tossup between RuneScape, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 4 and The Witcher 3. I'm not sure I could narrow it down any more than that.
I would choose Civilization IV since it has infinite replay value, not to mention the countless mods.
I'm pretty sure I'd get bored just playing one game for the rest of my life, even if the game does have a lot replay value. That said, if I really had to choose, then I would probably go with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly, which is a standalone mod that combines all the locations of the three S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games. I just really like the atmosphere of the whole franchise that's all.

Probably Skyrim.

Lots of opportunity to add different things with mods.
I would probably choose Total War: Warhammer 2. I don't see any option other than a sandbox game with infinite replayability.
I have already chosen Skyrim!

Two years ago, I would have said: King's Bounty: The Legend.
But now, the answer is obvious: Slay the Spire.

Honourable mention: Desktop Dungeons.

Neverwinter Nights or Forgotten Realms Unlimited Adventures. If I'm restricted to the same game and nothing different anymore for the rest of my life, at least let it be something that allows players to get creative and make their own content, and to an extent that it's like a whole new game again. Other games wear out their welcome after a while, but I've come back to these two again and again for the past 20-25 years without getting sick of them, because there's always more to discover, thanks to other players, be it in SP or MP mode (or as a content creator myself).

Absolutely true!
Probably Doom. The Community constantly keeps making new levels so there would always be something new to play.
