Navagon: I think that, like graphics, the need for performance can be overstated. Nobody really needs 60+ frames per second. Not even in a multiplayer FPS.
I have a good case of testing that, as I often play TeamFortress 2 on two different laptops (vsync enabled on both). On one of them TF2 runs at constant 60 fps, while on the other (a weaker Intel HD powered non-gaming laptop) 30 fps most of the time (maybe occasionally reaching 60 fps, but usually staying at 30 fps).
While both are fully playable, I still prefer playing on the 60 fps PC. It just feels and looks somewhat smoother on it. I have to admit that even though normally I'd say 30 fps is fully enough for me, even less depending on a game.
That said, at least single-player games I'd rather play in 30 fps with better graphics, than 60 fps with worse graphics. 30 fps is "good enough", even if I can see and feel the difference to 60 fps.
