What music sounds as good now as it did 30 years ago?
I imagine this thread will be all over the place, because when you come down to it, it's purely subjective; people also tend to identify with time frames. Like, I was a teenager in the 80's, so my initial reaction is "80's! Whooo!"

But a lot of that stuff (mostly top 40 radio) makes me puke these days. But I'm happy when a band from that time - say, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark - releases an album thirty years later and sounds like it could fit right in with 1985. Which they just did, incidentally.

Actually I'd disagree there. Between the start of drum machine, sampling, lots and lots of reverb 80s music will always sound dated.

Chuck Berry, Nat King Cole, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley... now thats timeless music.
Off topic but I was in Chuck Berry's restaurant with my mother 2 weeks before he was caught with cameras installed in the lady's room. XD Good ol' Chuck!
Black Sabbath.
Classical.
The great rock bands from the 60's, 70's, and 80's, such as Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, will always sound great.

50s Elvis era, 60s Beatles era, 70s disco era music, 80s retro music and early 90s music
BTW Congrats to Rush getting into the Hall a few decades too late. :O Now that is timeless music!
Depends on what 80s music you listened too. Some bands defied sounding timely. The album track 'Unforgettable Fire' does not sound like an 80s song. 'All I Want Is You' does not sound like an 80s song. 'Bullet the Blue Sky' likewise.

It depends on what bands you listened to. Top 40 was very timely for the most part though. Level 52, el Debarge, still I liked those too. In small doses.
