I'm not big on platformers, but this looks quite atmospheric. I imagine many people would like it.
I would have backed if he hadn't dragged his kids into the Kickstarter pitch. The man is clearly getting in over his head, having a three year old child, with another baby fast coming up. Everyone knows how much work and responsibility comes with that. He probably won't find time to work on a computer game any time soon. I mean, make no mistake the game looks great, but his timing is terrible. I'll probably buy the game when it gets released, but I'm not backing him at this time of his life. O.o
Personally I love it when people on Kickstarter drag their kids into the pitch. It makes me more easily connect with them. While I agree that when the baby is born he will have a hard time continuing with the project (based on my own experience with my second child), he does want that money to hire others to help and buy things which will make developing easier. The game is already looking well developed, and his wife looks supportive, so I think he has a chance to get it done.
I'm not a huge fan of this this type of game, but I think the game looks gorgeous, so I pledged my tentative $1 to show support.
And if you haven't done so, please take a look at Steampunk Holmes
. It's an interactive book project which looks well done, and for $9 you get access to all 7 planned books on the web, $8 for the non-interactive e-books, and you even get the first one just for pledging $1. The project is struggling to get funded, and I hope it makes it.
