Gog: Judge Dredd vs Death - though is not best FPS, is still fun and OSt is amazing.
ps1: The Mummy - must to say good game, if you like eyptian style games and OST is great too.
Just started up Pid. Looks like it will be fun :)

timppu: Ah yes, Mirror's Edge does indeed assume I'm going to use a gamepad, if one is connected. Stupid, but at least the kb/m controls still work, even though the game still asks me to press "Y" or "RT" or whatever, while I should be pressing right mouse button etc. instead.

Disconnecting the gamepad before running the game caused an odd problem. Certain moves like speed vault and sliding didn't work anymore, it would just try to do a normal jump or crouch if you tried those moves. In Steam forums I read that you must connect the gamepad back, and set all gamepad controls to default. Yep, after that the keyboard controls worked ok and speed vault/slide works again.
A lot of games right after the 360 controller started taking over get screwy when you have it hooked up. I always leave it unplugged unless I am using it for this reason.

And yes, KBM is much better for Mirror's Edge.
Alan Wake. Not a bad game, but definitely not one of my favorites.

MrAlphaNumeric: XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Started up a Classic Ironman and so far loving it. I hope they release more content eventually though.
I remember hearing they were working on a sequel, which is a damn shame; but considering that Civilization V has only recently received a second expansion, I think it'd be reasonable to assume that Firaxis have at least got modding tools or more maps in the pipeline (and hopefully not more Slingshot-type DLCs)

Mostly Medieval II Total War. Started with the ultimate AI mod as Venice, was taken apart by the Holy Roman Empire; restarted as Poland, currently being taken apart by Denmark. Ho hum.

It works fine now without gamepad plugged too. But it seems that if you don't have the gamepad options at defaults, the keyboard commands have hiccups (ie. sliding and speed vault don't work anymore; not sure if there are any other problems too).

So resetting the gamepad options to defaults fixed it for me. I don't know why they were changed anyway, I don't think I changed them at least intentionally.
On-topic: I am currently at our summer cottage, and there are some kids of my siblings here too. I learned a few (pre-)teenage girls were playing Slender Man on their smartphones, and kept screaming about it all the time. It was quite funny watch them play it, they got spooked so easily and kept throwing the smartphone away as soon as they saw the Slender Man. :D

Anyway, I instantly recalled they I just bought Slender: The Arrival from GOG, so I told them about it. Naturally they wanted to play it, so I installed it on my laptop. First they were "Awww, this isn't as scary" because the game starts in daylight, but as soon as the game became dark, yikes!

Their reaction to the game was so strong that I was seriously starting to fear myself that they do this to my expensive gaming laptop, especially as one kept poking the screen with her finger (this is not a touchscreen tablet!!!):

Anyway, after awhile they hit this bug, so their gaming session fortunately ended there, and my laptop was safe.

I became interested in the Slender Man mythos. For some reason I've been mostly unaware of it, albeit I do remember reading about the first freeware game "Eight Pages" here. So I also installed the freeware game to my PC and tried it out. Ok, interesting concept and I see why some find it scary, but the gameplay is based too much on luck.

I also checked the beginning of the free Slender Man indie movie, I'll have to watch it sometime. I'm completely behind with this Slender Man graze, but that's fine I guess.

I hope GOG gets a fix/update to Slender: Arrival soon. For me the game ended in that bug.

Phew, I finished The Walking Dead yesterday. What a ride. Characters were diverse, both physically and mentally, and written very well. It's kind of funny given how bad Kirkman is at this.
I would like to follow other episodes and pay what they deserve but I'm reluctant to do so because of its Steam requirement.

Now I'm playing System Shock 2. It surprised me how polished it looks despite its age and also I can't shake off the feeling that it was plundered by Half-Life series.
EDIT: And it's refreshing to just launch the game and be in menu immediately compared to modern games with their minute long logo show.

Played some more Pandora's Tower, and...it's getting weird. The start of the game was slow and (to be frank) kind of uninteresting to a degree, but it's starting to pick up from the looks of it. I would go into how Elena is starting to change, but that would go into spoilers. I just wish there were more characters to interact with.

Anyways, I've also tried out System Shock. I was kind of blown away by the options I've had at the start of the game (much like System Shock 2). An installable camera behind my back, turning on or off a compass, a monitor for a whole bunch of things at the top left, multiple tabs for certain items and options, it goes on and on. And the controls felt awkward at first, the mouse look mod helps a lot, as well as the WASD movement set.
Finished Alan Wake today. It was quite fun, though that facial animation! (and lack of real lip-syncing) Ugh. Makes them look more like puppets than anything else.

Not sure what I'll play next. So much to choose from...
Picked up the Joe Danger Bundle on Steam so I'll give that shot. it will be good to take a break from Pid for a little bit
Just finished Psychonauts (Good and funny game, but the extra 100% completion movie is a joke).
I think I will play some rpg's now.

I've finished the game recently too. For me it was an average game at best but the reason is highly subjective - my personal preferences. I'm not a big fan of action/shooter games and therefore destroying Takens was tedious, repetitive and sometimes frustrating for me. And that's the most time consuming part of the game. The story was pretty nice but what I enjoyed most were the unusual situations like being armed with torchlight and flares only. And the very best part was the ending of "The Writer DLC" - the rocky path just before you reach the lighthouse. I don't want to include a spoiler here but I'm sure you know what I mean.

And the other thing: I had far more serious problem to worry about than facial animations. I'm traveling a lot this days so I played it on my "traveling laptop" which can barely handle the game so I had to choose very low graphics quality. It wasn't bad most of the time, only the catwalks gave me some trouble - they were rendered a split of second before I stepped on them. I swear I felt just like this!

I think I will proceed with the American Nightmare. I'm familiarized withe the controls and the idea of the game. Besides... it's now or never - I doubt I will ever be willing to come back to those games.

I didn't think combat was that bad, but it certainly got repetitive after a short while. There were quite a few sections where I said "fuck it" and did my cowardly 'run past taken, fire up a flare, and make a mad dash for the next light/checkpoint'.

Yeah, I really liked that crazy path section, too. I was actually surprised by how much liked the two extra episodes in general. I definitely appreciated the fact that there were plenty of opportunities to off Taken with environmental hazards. Also they stopped the story from being too open-ended.

It is said that the combat is supposed to be a bit improved and more varied in American Nightmare, so I may give it a try just to see. I think I'll be continuing with a bit more horror-themed gaming as I'm considering Undying to be the next game I play.
Battlefield 3.

Hydrophobia: Prophecy. Picked it up for about $1 a while back. It's fun & well worth 1-2 dollars, but probably not more.
