amok: uuhhhh....what? none of them have anything remotely close to any type of communist idealogies in any shape or form... unless you think humanitarianism and aid is communist? (it is not).
avatar
D.Keys: Of course not. Humanitaranismo is not Communism. I never intended to say anything close to that. haha
As Mises said (I read about that topic long ago, I may be confusing the author. Maybe Rothbard? Can't remember. Sorry for that.), in true Capitalism and Liberalism, society find ways to help each other and specially people in need, as the economy grows.

avatar
amok: then maybe Red Cross? The rest of them are true blooded capitalist pigs.
avatar
D.Keys: Talking about Ideology, even if they use capitalism market model for growth (because, well, it's how really works), their ideologies are close to communism and socialism in the end, as they tend to share more left-wing principles, even if lightly.

But well, this is a huge debate and this is not the place for this, I guess.
Well, you are the first person I have meet arguing that companies like Coka Cola and Exxon favour comunist ideals ( (or is even remotely left-wing) - refreshing. But yes, better to leave it there. Only want to say left-wing (and indeed socialsism) =/= comunism

Zrevnur: Not sure what you are trying to say. You already said you personally didnt see the association... And its not 'mistrust' which is the changing point here - its the groveling to CCP.

This (the topic) is about the company and not the brand. Its not 'the brand' that they (the people the topic is about) mistrust - its the company. Its not just 'not trust' - they trusted, then they "were betrayed" and lost that trust.

Yes it is 'like a punishment'. This is intentional. There is even a better fitting word for it: 'penance'
avatar
amok: well, that makes your whole point that I responded to invalid, it is just an excuse.
No idea what you mean here. "invalid" in which sense? "Excuse" for what?
avatar
amok: It would be much better just to say so - that to restore your trust you would like them to do a pointless, but symbolic action (which results in them losing some monies). That makes much more sense.
Except that that is wrong so no it wouldnt make any sense. My answer was not a personal answer but a general answer to the general quoted question. It was made for strong impact. Reach as many people who lost trust and convince them that they can trust CDPR again. And I think I properly explained why a name change makes sense. It costs them money just like any other action. There are various points to it (see former posts: Reach people - if you cant contact them you cant regain their trust, etc) so its not 'pointless'.
And if you want to properly argue about cost maybe give some actual numbers and not just 'some monies'. Not that it changes that it makes sense in the list but you could maybe argue that it would have a bad cost-effect ratio.

There were many companies there, some of them are in favour of socialism principles, while others, comunism principles.
That's why I said "most", not all of them.
I understand that socialism =/= communism, but both have shared principles here and there. Just like radical right-wing and radical left-wing. But even famous authors couldn't define for sure what is what, who are we to define what is what here without a deep debate?

It's an interesting research, aligned with how right-wing parties tend to use, sometimes, left-wing economic strategies, which is weird, because most of them consider themselvs "conservative".

But the topic is complex. Sorry to bother and thanks for the chat about it. :)

--edit

The bad about this 'downvote' mechanic, is that people who doesn't agree with you can down vote without expressing their world view, which means, we, who get down voted, stay without understand other people point of view.

Not that we should care about this in the first place, but, shouldn't we understand who disagree with us in a polite way? How can we analise each other point of view if just pressing a 'dislike' is the most used tool to, well, disagree?

Say your arguments. Im a person that loves debates. Even in PM if you want. I'd love to chat with who disagree, so we can all learn. :)

nermink: Get rid of the investors breathing down their neck,
Which "investors" are you referring to?
The only big "investors" (shareholders(*)) that I am aware of are the founders/managers of the company themselves. If there are some other "investors" or similar outside forces having a bad influence - please share.

(*) You can see major shareholders here: https://www.cdprojekt.com/en/investors/shareholders/
Relating to the topic:

The recent CDP hacker claims that CDP will lose even more trust if their documents are leaked. This implies that we may not have seen the worst (of CDP) yet.

More details on the above: https://www.theregister.com/2021/02/09/cd_projekt_red_hack/

At least they were transparent about it, but again... doing a bad job and being transparent and saying you're sorry is not the worst things, but definitely not the best either.
