Collapse by Jared Diamond
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill.

The 2003 movie is terrible and it has successfully made me avoid the graphic novel. But the first two book I've read is just amazing. Now the third volume~Century is kinda confusing cause I don't recognize all the new characters background and made me missing all the intended homage.

I haven't read the Black Dossier and the Nemo Adventures yet.

I loved the first two minis, but the Black Dossier didn't do much for me and I stopped after that. The concept was just getting really twee and it felt like Moore was getting tired of adhering to the "rules" he'd set up in the earlier works.

The movie was an abomination. The first mini is pretty cinematic already and would have made a solid basis for a film but of course they had to change everything. Casting a 20-something actor to play Tom Sawyer during a setting in which he would have been an old man... *sigh*

Re-reading Cryptonomicon
Azar Gat, Nations. The long history and deep roots of political ethnicity and nationalism.

Interesting book about nationalism, takes the position that its basis lies in evolutionarily shaped basic human behaviour patterns, and that it isn't a modern phenomenon, as is often claimed, but has been common from the earliest historical times. Pretty good so far.
