Am i the only one that noticed a sudden push of LoL derived things, lately, and not just on GOG? I feel like i'm suddenly hearing about it in many places other than the mouths of it's fanbase.

Possibly because of the Netflix show? As someone who stays away from MOBAs and really all things online and multi I barely ever heard of LoL before. I had no idea there's any lore to it, other games in the same universe. I always just thought of it as "ah yes, the standalone version of that Warcraft 3 mod I never liked".

I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Might as well actually use all their world's lore to do more than being utterly pointless for actually playing LoL. I'll never bother playing the latter - not because of its infamous community, but playing a single map over and over doesn't sound like my idea of fun - but if they can entertain me with (possibly better) spinoffs I ain't complaining. I even enjoyed a song or two of their made-up K-pop band.

mqstout: Supporting these is supporting a company that grossly loves online exclusive play, microtransactions, e-sports, and hostile play environments.
About that, looking on the bright side, they're releasing products supposedly DRM free here (hoping for no sneaky DRM), so it would seem they're changing their mindset.

mqstout: Supporting these is supporting Tencent, which has had a outsized and deleterious effect on the industry as a whole. Caution is advised if you have personal principles.
Sadly Tencent is trying to profit over everything, including games, so it's hard to avoid them (as previously mentioned, even gog-static.com, which is mandatory for multiple functions here, belongs to them). I'd imagine they have a saying even on Steam, considering Devotion and CountryBall Heroes. But I'm not sure what else to say other than "yeah, that sucks".

TZODnmr2k5: This game has extreme Battle chaser vibes...

NuffCatnip: Same developer team. :)
Edit: You mean Ruined King, right?
Yep, that I do, Loved Battle chaser's art direction and game in general which is why this will be in my ever bloated library at some point! :)
Song of Nunu looks really good and RiME is one of my favorites (of course, Deadlight is one of my least favorites, but this looks more like RiME). Not going to support Riot, though.

You'd be surprised what ends up with it's own lore. Fifty Shades started as a Twilight fanfic.

Netflix has been getting strangely entangled lately and i'm not sure how i feel about that.

I've heard of the MOBA maps thing and i feel like they could improve it a bit. Halo 1 has always had MOBA-style maps, but i don't think anyone ever really realized it (seriously, look at the first halo's maps from a god's eye view, and you'll consistently see 3 lanes, even if some of those lanes are longer than others and curve and things like that), but it also made CTF really, really interesting. But did anyone ever really notice the first Halo's maps were basically all the same? I never really heard any complaints, because they found a way to make them feel different enough.

But i do agree, using lore you develop helps. It was good when Transformers did it.

(I'm OK with these games on GOG. I'm just not personally OK with them.)

Kasper...: I have to agree on this.

I'm all for GOG to have more games... but encouraging Riot/Tencent behavior isn't a good thing.
i agree on the microtransaction part
but whats wrong with e-sport?

competition in gaming to win prizes isnt excatly new
there have competition since the arcade days

On the nes/snes you had the Nintendo World Championships
The only difference now is its become bigger and more accesibble because it has moved online as well
that and there are bigger prizes

Hostile player enviroment isnt excatly new either
there are many kids that cant behave themself once their online or competing against others

Was planning on ignoring these until I found out Ruined King was made by the team that did Battlechasers Nightwar. Will probably check it out now.

I've seen the show talked about on /v/ with gifs of Jinx being cute tbh fam.

but other than that no.

aahhh fun fact: I liked Dunkey's videos back around the time when he was still into League but not his actual Leagues videos ironically (well most of them didn't interest me).
Yeah, several years ago Riot decided they needed more than just LoL on their list and started looking into new games.

I'm sort of surprised they're licensing out content too. I thought it'd all be first party stuff. <insert why not both meme I guess>.

Hopefully, they stick with good devs. Unlike warhammer's more... lenient requirements.

One of the executives (founders?) at Airship Syndicate is the original creator of the Battle Chasers comic and it shows! :)
So far Ruined King is fun, it's Battle Chasers with different characters. I don't regret my purchase. :P

Finally. I thought they were going to release it with DRM. Going to buy the standard edition since I don't care for skins.

Yeah, I'd get it too if it weren't for my wallet being pissed at me for my earlier abuse, I will say though as soon as/if GoG releases the final two tomb raider games I'll be snagging them before this game, pissed wallet or not as they always come with a steep discount when it debuts here!
