An onslaught of celebrated classics up to 85% off - and more to come!

Some games just refuse to be forgotten. Either because they were so far ahead of their time, or because they're so damn good that there's no surpassing them - fact is their light never fades. Today, several of them are holding a meeting called Weekly Sale 6, and we've got our hands on the impressive guest list!

What will you do when an entire space facility turns against you? The constant sense of helplessness, the delightful deceptions orchestrated by the facility's sadistic A.I, the inescapable brutality - it all comes together to cause a System Shock whose effects will never fully wear off.

Blitzkrieg hits hard, fast, and with ruthless strategic precision. Whether it's with airstrikes, artillery or infantry assaults, the historical theatres of war are your playground, and your tactical commands the only thing standing between crushing defeat or glorious victory.

As always, there's more – including up to 85% off Noctropolis, Etherlords, D: The Game, and Turok. Plus, stay tuned for new games and deals this Friday!

The Weekly Sale will last until February 13, 5:00 PM GMT.
This sale is full of great games. I'm embarrassed to admit I never finished System Shock as I bought it over twenty years ago and was too young to fully appreciate it. That said I've never even played System Shock 2. I feel like this needs to be corrected.
this is one of the best sales I can remember lately. I couldn't resist and added another 7 games to my backlog :)
How does the PC version of Turok compare to the N64 version? Does it still have a lot of fog?

Yes, but there's no blurriness as in the N64. I think it's a decent version.

Do you know if it uses DirectX or OpenGL? Is there a windowed mode?

Zoidberg: Yeah, but are they still playable to this day? Maybe they haven't aged well in regards to interface and user friendliness?

Got SC2, need to get into it. :P
They're definitely playable today -- the second SS is even better on that account. I've been playing System Shock 2 since it's release and loving it but although i tried the original System Shock at that time, i didn't really got into it until 2015, when IAmSinistar sent me a gift code. Well, it turned out the game is amazing!

The enhanced version sold nowadays has mouselook which is a great plus, since it makes the gameplay a lot easier as far as controls go (which was the reason I didn't play it back then). As for the UI, I'll be honest: it works but it requires some time to get used to it; it doesn't have the best design, but ultimately it grew on me somehow and I believe it adds to the overall scifi element of the game. The graphics are very detailed, the audiologs are great (among them you'll hear SHODAN of course), the overall gameplay is very enjoyable. On the other hand, the only things I didn't like in the original were the music (I just muted it) and the Cyberspace levels (found them somewhat difficult to navigate but, thankfully, i've never stuck for too long).

As for System Shock 2, it is somewhat different in that you have some character development features plus the loot (health and ammo) is not as abundant as in the original (but still, won't give you any problems) plus the weapons degrade by using them and require fixing etc, but overall it's an amazing game as well. Nothing to be afraid on regard to the gameplay since this is a modern game.

I really have a hard time choosing which of the games is better; both are amazing and I think no one should miss them, unless they don't really like FPS games at all. And if you're really afraid of the original because it is an old game, at least don't miss the second one.

How is Knight of the Sky? Is the frame rate as low as the video make it appear? I had lots of fun with flight sims with very low frame rate back in the days but I do not think I'd enjoy them today. Note that I do not demand 30fps from an old game but I won't enjoy 4fps either.

Actually, I own the original PC port, not the GOG version. I assume they've increased the graphics options, but you'd be better off asking in that forum. Surprisingly, the original game runs fine on my Win 7 64-bit machine, so I haven't had to purchase the GOG release...yet. :)

I recall reading the fog has been reduced. It was so heavy in the Nintendo 64 version due to hardware limitations. This release has improved visuals as well as less (but still present) fog. :)

No, the frame rate is better in the actual game (keeping in mind it was designed for 80286, so it may not be completely smooth). Red Baron (not on sale) is a better game overall, though I also enjoyed KotS.

Thanks for your input, I'll try to find some time for the second one at the very least. :)

Nice! Also, do you know if the PC version has the ability to save at any time?

Unfortunately, it's still checkpoint-only saves. :) It's actually very similar to the N64 version; it's just crisper looking.

That is still structured the same requiring the player to get to a save stone in order to save the game. The checkpoints are not save points and only remain in play during the same game session.

I found this in the GOG forums, however. It looks as though some gamers have found a way to make a quick save feature work although it's not entirely the same as a true quick save/load option.

I hope that helps!
