70-75% off Total Annihilation, Men of War, Massive Assault, Blitzkrieg and more.

"A military operation involves deception. Even though you are competent, appear to be incompetent. Though effective, appear to be ineffective." "Regard your soldiers as your children, and they will follow you into the deepest valleys; look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death." These, and many others, are words that you will live by when engaging this weekend's collection of some of the greatest, most varied strategy titles on GOG.com. It's our DRM-free StrataGems at 70-75% off!

Total Annihilation is one of the most historical RTSes ever to be released, standing toe to toe with other legends of the genre. It's a game that back in 1997 introduced a scale so massive that few games manage to replicate it to this day. Faces of War and the Men of War series will teach you about the unbreakable bonds of war. Instead of massive number-based battles, you'll be controlling a relatively small squad of soldiers - each one simulated in detail, even allowing you to take direct control for the more precise maneuvers. And then there's Massive Assault, a game of turn-based tactics and true deception from the creators of World of Tanks. In this game, your success will not depend on your reaction time or clicks per minute, you will never go into battle uncertain of its outcome. Everything is consistent and laid out on the table from the start. The question is, how will you play your cards?

Plan, deceive and strategize in this weekend's promo: StrataGems! With over 30 games at 70-75% off, you can truly earn your place among the greatest generals in the history of mankind. The promo will last until Tuesday, August 4, 3:59 AM GMT.
Nah - already have enough strategies to play which were left unplayed. :p

Which is why I need to get to OpenXCOM already.
I can't remember, do I need Etherlords1 if I already have E2?
(I mean, it's a good game or average and 2 is enough?)

Voted for all of them longtime ago :)

Edit: Unfortunately the games are in legal limbo since 2013 when Timegate studios owner of the ip closed down. Same is for Axis and Allies game ip that they owned.

For anybody wondering - Eador : Masters of a Broken World is fixed . No more crashes, nothing, it's a solid stable game now .
A few too many historical/military ones for my taste. Although i'll probably get the UFO set at 70% off later this weekend, or wait for monday to see if any additional deals crop up.

Telika: "Men of War" is an impossibly brilliant series.
I have more than a few World War II games (and even more tabletop wargames), so how's the Vietnam War-centered Men of War?

Haven't played it yet, but from what I gather, they are roughly the same gameplay with another flavor. I think the gog stream thingy had a totalbiscuit run of the vietnam game, and it strikes me as the same game with maybe a touch of foliage-induced camera frustration.

Here it is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNy4Ouxj04M (the twitch "previous broadcast" archive is limited in time ?)

I'm so impressed with Men of War that I doubt any slight variation of that sort can put a dent in this gameplay quality.

Impaler26: I already own all the good games in this promo. Money saved. :D
Wait a second you own them all on steam don't you ;P

Well I own them all here and probably a chunk on steam so I'm happy to save a few dollars.

Strangely enough, they are still available on Steam, with TimeGate Studios as the apparent publisher.

Lemonjack: Space Rangers
Fun and accessible. There is an RTS component - available within side "quests" - but it's completely optional. A good challenge, and it's a bit light-hearted compared to the typical war-based game. I haven't played the HD release but my understanding is that it's lot more than just a graphical upgrade.

Lemonjack: Soldiers: Heroes of WWII
RTS, but not a twitch-fest. You'll control individual soldiers and crew individual vehicles. VERY challenging, at least for a dummy like me. I need to drop the difficulty (oh, the shame!) and give it another go.
Must be good games, since I have them all. :)

Lemonjack: How are the Etherlords games
I really like them, especially the second one. They are card-combat titles with nice graphics and very good music. The first one is largely a series of battles and you can selected your leader from either side of the war. The second one has RPG aspects added on top, where you can explore, find items and locations, and choose your battles more flexibly (up to a point). Both are worth having, though if you were to just buy one I'd say get the second, since you'll get a broader gaming experience. The first is recommend if you don't care for the RPG aspects and want to focus on tactical card battles.
Already have everything I'm interested in. That's actually the rule with me lately...
Already own some of them, pretty tempted to get the rest of them, but even with good looking offer like this have to pass since I'm boycotting Russian economy. Hopefully when this offer comes again the Russian people have a saner leadership.

Yeah, I saw that before. It is weird though cause the games were removed from other stores. It could be that a dev might have retained the rights to the game but that is only speculation.
