Get SimCity 2000 SE, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Theme Hospital, Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2, and more DRM-free EA classics 60% off!

This weekend nearly 30 classic from the Electronic Arts collection make their way to GOG.com with a solid flat-rate 60% discount. A line-up of timeless games arriving at such speed deserves to be called nothing shorto of a Classic EA Convoy! You'll find memorable stand-alone titles here, as well as all-time favorite series. Games from many genres to suit all tastes and temperaments. Whether you are an adventurous soul, a keen manager, or a daunting pilot, you'll find an excellent match for yourself on our promo page. But before you go there, let's take a quick look at some of the brilliant games we offer you today, shall we?

There was a time that all that a aspiring mayor of a virtual town needed, was a computer plugged in into nothing more than a power socket. Well, that and a copy of SimCity 2000, preferably the Special Edition that allowed you not only to construct and manage your town--that is: metropolis--but also allowed you to become an architect and design your very own buildings using the patented Urban Renewal Kit. Oh, yes! City-building was carefree and full of bliss, back in the day (up until an earthquake or alien invasion--but even that only happened locally). Many have forgotten, but we, here at GOG.com, remember. Today you can experience the urbanistic utopia once again, for only $2.39--a fraction of what you'd be paying for building a birdhouse, let alone a city!

If you prefer a smaller scale in your managerial sim, but maybe even more gameplay intensity, you should pick up Theme Hospital for only $2.39. This medical facility simulation takes serious matters like health care and exotic diseases with a hefty pinch of humor. Treating Hairyitis in patients suffering from prolonged exposure to moonlight might be a tad challenging, but its got to be fun at the same time. After all, not every day you get to order flea-powder and silverware compress as a treatment, right. Only here!

Lots of humor, even if a bit darker in tone, you will also find in Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2, Bullfrog's excellent fantasy games pitting iron-clad heroes and heroins against a horde of vile dungeon-dwelling monsters led by a repulsive demon. The twist is: this time around you're the evil boss of the dungeon. Command your minions, design deadly traps, and fend off those damn do-gooders trying to perform their petty quests. You also get to hoard ridiculous heaps of gold and jewels here, and the entry investment is only $2.39 for each of the games.

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, just as all of the games above, delivers complex and deep strategic gameplay with lots of factors to track at once--probably even more then the others. On top of that, it presents you with the most important task ever undertaken by the humankind: colonization of space! Taking everything that was so involving and enjoyable about the Civilization game, this one takes matters into an otherworldly setting. The version we offer here comes with the elusive Alien Crossfire expansion, all for the low price of--you guessed it--$2.39!

Impressive? Oh, but that's just the tip of the giant mountain of DRM-free EA gems we have lined up for you in our Classic EA Convoy! Be sure to check the whole promo page, not to miss out on any of the excellent titles we offer 60% off until until Tuesday, May 7, at 3:59AM GMT.

Have a nice weekend!
And thus was yet another few games purchased. The two from the promo I didn't yet have (Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and Bioforge), together with King of Dragon Pass. I do wonder when I'll actually take the time to play them.
In MOH:AA, are you still alone most of time, or were there allies with you?

tinyE: I'm sorry what? I didn't catch that. I was too busy thinking about the Blues being up 2-0 on the defending champs. :D
Normally, I'd respond to such trash talk with something like "Congrats on only being 14 wins away from your first ever Cup win." But I'm feeling charitable today. :-)
It's a matter of laugh or death in Theme Hospital.

Oh you puns...

Leroux: Any advice regarding those?
Lands of Lore 3:
I hope someone who played this can clarify, but my impression of the game after just watching a Let's Play of it was poor at best. LOL3 did not seem like a good game at all - it was sad how the series ended. Like you said, it actually looks worse than LOL2 graphics-wise. The animation is terrible. You can level up just by performing training tasks, allowing you to get to a high level right at the beginning of the game. You can also obtain incredibly powerful weapons early on as well. Check out the LP to get a sense of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCOJn5wiiz0&list=PLB0FB8F2DB35FB89C

But I can't believe LOL1+2 is on sale this weekend. I was just thinking about buying it full price. GOG has great timing. I bought LOL1 back when it was originally released but never finished it. I remember writing Westwood because I was having difficulty with figuring out a part of the game and they sent me a huge packet with printouts of every single map and solutions for every puzzle. Can you imagine a company doing that today?

After reading this thread I think I may pick up Theme Hospital too.

HomerSimpson: Got to give them a pass this year because of the lockout and the fact that their goalie went from a semi- basket case to a full blown one. But they better make the playoffs next year or heads have to roll.
2013 was not a good year - Flyers underachieved, Sixers were pathetic and the Phillies are looking bad. Maybe there is hope come autumn ...

That is an awesome memory. Thanks for sharing. No wonders some of us are stuck as gamers for life.

scriptbr: Also, which is the best Crusader game? Is there any reason to get both, or they're more or less the same thing?
avatar
Ophelium: In a perfect world, you should get both Crusaders as they tell one complete story. They are essentially the same mechanically. I'm partial to the first one, it just had a better feel to me. If you're only going to get one, go with No Remorse.
Thanks for the tip. i´ve been looking for it a while, and as you stated, going for the first. If catches, I´ll grab the second later.
The EA EULA says I might (do?) need Origin and an account? Is that just their generic EULA for every game they sell now a days or do I need an Origin account to play these?

I would love to get both, but I am eyeing other games and don't want to spend too much in this promotion, since I already spent more than I should this week. But I will definitely grab No Remorse, if I like it enough I might get the sequel down the road! Thanks for the help.

Ultima 1-6 are worth owning if you don't have them also the Crusader games as well IMO.

Yup, that reminds me of when I found a typo of some sort on the Interplay website regarding the patch for Blackthorn. This was back in 1995 or so, when if you wanted a patch, you had to mail or email the publisher for a floppy to be sent in the mail. Well, I got my floppy patch, but I also received a "prize" (filled with red hots) for finding the typo. I was actually able to find it after a few brief minutes of digging. Unfortunately, as you can see in the attached picture. Time has not been kind to it. 18 years... Wow!

But like you said, companies just don't do things like that anymore. It was a different age.

Bigs: Second this... GOG y u no discount Syndicate Wars? :(

Erich_Zann: I'll stay forever flabbergasted that (first-world) people can be so cheap & avaricious to demand discounts on luxury items that are already sold five bucks...
Either you want it that bad and you buy one pizza/beer/sushi less this week to afford it, or you're merely interested in it and you wait... but whining because a videogame is sold five bucks ? Really ?
Saying "Shame there's no " is not "whining".

Also we aren't all going out buying alcohol and fast food all the time. I for example am unemployed and I don't drink at all, and fast food is something I have maybe twice a year.

If you want to accuse people of being greedy then you'll have to accuse everyone in this thread because we/they are all buying now in the sale rather than earlier.

And I have all the games on original cd anyway, so they are worth less to me because all they represent is getting rid of a cd check. Some games are still better to own originally anyway, e.g. Magic Carpet has no expansion here.
Want to get the all game ,but too expensive~:(
