Carabbo: I still don' get it. I bought a bunch of Paradox games ((just an example) on Steam that apparently should run only with older systems of Windows (XP/Vista only), but they work on Win10 if you set the right compatibility in the game's property. I completely agree: they should state CLEARLY that some games will not work on newer devices.
Ironically Steam has said it's stopped support of Xp and Vista.

I just downloaded and installed the game. It runs well on my system (Win7x64). Game card states supported OS: WinXP, Win7. You have Win10 and you were provided with an option of refund. This game is not available on Steam, so the comparison of other older games from Paradox is not very suitable here.

So, what seems to be a problem?

здравствуй, товарищ.
It seems this whole discussion just caused something similar to few nuclear tests going very badly.
Я Думаю что это не хорошо, нет.

lolinc: So anyway, Arx Fatalis. . . I had to google-investigate what was up with this title. . . why it wasn't running in Win 10. . . so on, so forth. . . came across a fan-emulation called Arx Libertatis, which was free lol (I guess Arx Fatalis was Abandonware).
You couldn't have played it legally though, Arx Libertatis required data from Arx Fatalis. I came across the mod (source port) since the release and haven't any memories of it being *free*.
Also the game rocks, it is the best spiritual successor to Ultima Underworld ever made. It's also the best game from Arkane Studios in my opinion, Prey is also good, but not that good.

Literal translation to Russian from English:
"hello, comrade."
"I Think that is not good, no."

You just put my Russian loving brains on a serious nuclear test: we don't talk like that actually (some maybe). Perhaps you should stick to Italian ;)
Now jokes aside, GOG have NOT wronged you, they are ready to make a refund, the game is old and available only here, you can find a PC and install Windows 7 (or maybe some spectacular virtual machine). What was the point of your thread if it's not "a rant" as you specifically mentioned?

Yes, thank you for that clarification; sometimes I forget that 'abandonware' today has a different legal status respective of consensus, contrasted with, say, 20-25 years ago.

I agree that it was a great game. . . had great ambient sound and fantastic ambient music (I'm not really a fan of blaring symphonies in many games today), and I thought the glyph-magic-system had a cool magick-y feel to it (like Black and White). . . and, like UU:SA, had a underground community comprised of diverse factions. Artistically, the game was a class-act presentation. I need to look up Arkane's catalogue and check out their other games!

I meant that it was literally impossible to play Arx Libertatis without original game data files, making GOG purchase a good thing all around. Original game was playable on my system, but it was not stable.

I also very much liked the magic system, the game has some similarities with original Thief game as well and I love it.

Arkane's second game Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (Steam only) is also a good one, especially if you're playing thief-mage combo. I highly recommend it.
But their next after that, Dishonored game, was a big disappointment for me. I don't get the high praise from gaming community. Haven't touched other games in series.
Prey was insanely good, too bad it has some serious technical flaws and the only story DLC lacking the base game quality.

what a weird lee waspish person.
I don't have much sympathy for people who buy games without looking at the requirements then bitch because their game will not run on their computers which do not meet the requirements.

Ahhhh, okay. . . m'bad man. See, for some reason, I had thought all this time that Libertatis was a complete emulation. . . source, engine, and all. I also thought that was a late '90s title, but it wasn't, which means it was probably XP oriented, so probably wouln't need emulation.

Yah, I still got Dishonored bouncing around in a desk drawer somewhere; I remember that I enjoyed it, but it wasn't real high on my praise-list. . . seemed like it was kind of short or something. . . don't remember.

Thank you for the recommendation re. 'Dark Messiah'! I'll definitely check it out. . . sounds like something I'd really like!

it's nice game, a lot of platforming (jumps to get to places), hard to kill foes. you won't be hacking thru them in a breeze :) DMMM goes on steam sale with pretty deep discount (-75% from what I recall, should be under 2 bucks). Best thing about this game is how you interact with objects and foes. You can kick your foe or throw objects at them and it makes more damage than just weapon. Arcane at their best :)

Hell, don't set your expectations too high, comrade. I've been learning your language for some months but then stopped and became a total noob once again. Actually Italians and Russians say what they read (most of the time), so learning how to read is not incredibly difficult. We find other languages more difficult to learn, because they have totally different spelling rules.

We don't call each other "comrade" for 40-50 years I think. I'm not sure that we even addressed each other by that during USSR era despite the heavy implication from old movies and Red Alert games. Probably it's easier to find an Englishman treating to his 5 o'clock tea than Russian calling a fellow citizen "tovarisch" ("comrade" in our language). It's so cliche, it's not even true. "Lords and ladies" (in reverse order), "mister / sir and madam" (even "mistress"), "friend", "mate" (we use different word but very close in meaning), "brother", "bro" are more common.

As for the languages I would rather learn Dutch (very hard) or Deutsche (very hard) than Russian (overkill) because spelling and grammar there is spectacularly insane, even educated persons can't write properly.

Do you really think I was serious with "comrade"?

German can be learned "fast" if you know what declensions are and how they work (I studied latin at school so I know them pretty well, while you are Russian so I suppose many of your compatriots prefer to learn Deutsch). As I said Russian is not that difficult: you have only three verbal tenses, basically a learner paradise. The trick is to understand how perfective and imperfective work (not an easy task at all). The different alphabet definitely put off many people.

For the Motherland!

You better be, otherwise you're just being impolite calling someone in a silly manner.

Can't say about Latin or German. I believe that Latin and Spanish is okay for any Italian person to learn since same origin. Yes, Russian is extremely easy, let's just break a simple word "water" ("вода") into 6 common cases:
1. nominative = вода
2. genitive = воды
3. dative = воде
4. accusative = воду
5. instrumental = водой
6. prepositional = о воде

Actually it's "fatherland" or "homeland" but who cares. If you want to be silly I suggest to use "For Mother Russia!", that may humor some of our people.

I did not say it is easy. I said it's less hard than what many people would think.

By the way latin differs a lot from Italian (just like ancient Greek differs from modern Greek) and if you know Latin very well (not my case) you would understand a lot better German grammar, because they both have declensions.

Also, I don't understand what you want to proove with that example.
It's just a declension that would scare to death someone not used to that system.
