They will charge you CC at the end of the funding period. It's listed on the kickstarter page.

I and others have mentioned GOG.com as a distributor for W2 on the new W2 forums. Also I think the community there pushed pretty hard on inXile to get them to release it DRM free and then they changed it. It was originally set for a Steam only release.

Wouldnt it be good having the original Wasteland here on Gog.com?

To me the $50 tier seems to be the better value. The $100 tier does offer some pretty nice stuff, but if you compare the rewards I think you get a lot more value for the first $50.

For the first $50 you get:
- The game itself! (digital download)
- cardboard box
- game on a physical disk
- cloth map
- instruction book
- digital soundtrack
- digital concept art book
- novella part 1

For the second $50 you get:
- novella part 2
- early beta access
- miniature
- faction badge
- "Thank you" in the credits
- a different box

I've pledged $50 so far, but maybe I'll upgrade to $100 later.

In the faq of the KS project they say:

"Can you give us a copy of the original Wasteland game?
We would if we could."

Not sure what that means. If they are doing Wasteland 2 it means they have the rights, so the only other reason I can imagine is that they don't want to rework it for current OSs, which is gog's specialty. So, yep!, it should be in here.

The $50 rewards is definitely the sweet spot for myself. I probably would have gone with $50 instead of $100 if I didn't really want to see this happen. I'll have to cut back on my spending next time a great KickStarter comes around.

I hope we do. Interplay (on GOG) produced it, EA (on GOG) published it and Brian Fargo does NOT have the rights for it.

He'd bring it to GOG as well if he could. It's up to EA to get the original back on the market.

Actually, it's about rights. InXile has the rights to the franchise, but not to distribute it, meaning that it has to do with its publisher, in this case, EA. What I would like to see is a collective push by both GOG and Fargo to try and get the game released here on GOG. EA gets its share of the plunder from fans young and old and we get the game offered legally for a good price.

Now, Fargo does have the right to publish The Bard's Tale, so here's hoping that he can come to an agreement with GOG.

Getting the original to run on modern operating systems is trivial thanks to DOSBox. It takes no more than 30 seconds. There must be legal issues involved that prevent them from distributing the original game (and clearly, the rights to make a sequel != the rights to sell the original).

Fargo has got the rights to the Wasteland name/franchise, but the rights to Wasteland (as in the first game itself) are still in EA hands.

Fargo said he's trying to get it back, unsuccesfully until now. But he also said that EA has been reasonable in their discussion, so there may still be hope.

Unless it's something complicated like they have the rights to the Wasteland trademark, but not to the actual game content.

inXile are now promising a Linux port in addition to OSX if the KickStarter reaches 1.5 million in pledges. Also, we're practically at 800k now!

Remember, KickStarter doesn't take your money until the funding period has ended. So if the period to pledge is ending and it doesn't look like things will turn out the way you like(for example no Linux port), you can back out and lose no money. But to make sure it does get there, you Linux folk who are interested in the game should start backing!

I think rather than the Double fine kickstarter making people reluctant to spend more money, the backers of DF enjoyed backing it so much they can't wait to back something else.

The 100 USD one is awesome enough, that's what I got. If you really have 250 sitting around a signed copy would be cool too:)
