I abandonned "clicker heroes" a while ago (roghly at the same time I completed "idle evolution"), and I'm finishing "death squad". I suspect I'll grow tired of "swarm simulator" soon.

But "adventure capitalist" ? Seriousy ? Bleh.
Take some of the most popular genre of games and strip away all the abstraction and this is what remains

the sole purpose is to make a number--bigger.

it's AdVenture Capitalist even, they are pulling no punches with their satire neither, they come out swinging.

I mean to progress you have to win the favor of angels to invest in your budding enterprise and then to progress further you can sacrifice these angels for even greater perks. That tongue has perforated that cheek.

That almost reminds me of the game 10000000.

Finished Death Squad, and Swarm bored me after a day or two.

But Adventure Capitalist has enough entertainment to last months.

Seriously. :)

What an oddity, i just got that many hitpoints recently before i saw this post and the name looked familiar from Idling to rule the gods.

Course i can still get bitch-slapped by the level 3 Baal.

I don't know if that counts

I mean, a dollar is something I can quantify

how much is one hitpoint really worth?

are they measured in flesh? bodily fluids? moxy?

what is a hitpoint?

It's 1/60th of a light health potion which costs 14 gold pieces. 200 gold pieces take one inventory slot while a broadsword takes five. A broadsword is 2,6 kg. One ounce of gold is currently 1191,60 dollars.

You're welcome.

according to these unquestionably accurate numbers:

1 hp = 0.2333333333333333 gp

1 slot = 720 grams

1 gp = 3.6 grams

0.2333333333333333 gp = 0.8399999999999999 grams

0.8399999999999999 grams = 0.0296301280376475 ounces

therefore

1 hp = $35.30726056966076

I'm reminded of trying to play the pool of radiance MS-DOS game. First level adventurers, go out, get banged up, come back, try to buy healing potions. I ended up finding it was much cheaper to rent a room for like 10g and stay there until we were fully healed.

That's sounds like my type of game.

so long as progression isn't constrained to some linear story arc

Not that I could tell. There were some oddities though. First it relied on a code wheel, so it was DRMed, and annoyingly so as well. Second, the level and progression system feels like an early D&D, first or second edition. Honestly it felt far more like a rouge-like.

Third... To level up you had to beat a trainer in town and spend 1,000 gold before you could level up.

The furthest I ever got was I met a wraith, and I couldn't fight it so my whole party of 2nd level characters died...

Fourth, the game required a tool to slow it down to like 10Mhz or it went by way too fast.

As for progression, you probably would do a lot of grinding in order to get anywhere that the levels would allow you to. Consider it linear for the most part.
