(Unofficial confirmation thread is here, which - unlike this thread - the game is basically confirmed to appear on GOG but GOG itself hasn't said it will be here.)

I figured this thread might be meaningful for vague signs that a game might be released here, but the signs are not even an unofficial confirmation. It's sort of a rumor mill. Again, vague fun or interesting things/points that might be worth sharing. Always remember though: don't get your hopes up. This is especially important for newbies to keep in mind; don't get hyped and emotional.

Scroll through; I don't plan on keeping track of everything in this top post.

--- Epic games (Jazz Jackrabbit and co.) <- Now here!

Tim Sweeney liked my tweet about Jazz Jackrabbit and other Epic classics. I had twitted at him a few times in the past but this was the first time he liked it.

Brian Herbert - "In meaningful negotiations on a very important part of the DUNE universe. Can't say more now, but it's going to be great news for Dune fans."

"The party with whom we're negotiating [assuming we reach agreement] will probably make the announcement. We'll see..."

I know Nightdive had been in contact with Brian in the past; maybe ND or GOG finally got through since a new Dune movie is happening. :D

--- Nightdive (the publisher) in general

(You'll have to do research yourself on this one, for now. ;)

Nightdive is a mixture since they always have projects going on that lead somewhere or flounder, *unofficial* confirmations and rumors. We know NdS is looking at Titanic Adventure Out of Time, Witchaven, and more. IIRC, they've confirmed Forsaken and a port of Machines: Wired for War; Keep and eye on Acclaim games.

Feel free to share your own vague hints, rumors, etc.! However, remember the unofficial confirmation thread, and not to get your hopes up.

Would be great to see the Dune RTS games here on GOG.
I want Crysis 2 and Skyrim on GOG! Nowadays it is even believable they would end up here, the only question is when. Crysis 2 isn't probably that far away, I presume. Also I've decided not to buy Skyrim on Steam (since I am waiting it to appear on GOG instead), earlier I said to myself I will buy the full edition on Steam when it reaches under 10€.

Dark Souls would be nice too, but I am not expecting that to come to GOG. Then again, I never expected Saints Row 2-4 nor Darksiders 1-2 nor Mirror's Edge to ever appear here either, so... :)

I own every possible Dune game (even floppy and CD version of the first one) but if they appear here I will instabuy all of them. Even the abomination.
Choo choo! Hype train leaving platform 9¾. Can those still on the platform please stand back.

Interesting... thanks for sharing ;).
Aren't Dune 1/2 the ones where you can only select 1 unit at a time?

...and you have to issue move orders by clicking on the move button, then the destination, yes :P.
Sounds like a game series that NEED fan patches and mods.

Dune 1 is a completely different game, a kind of adventure.

Dune 2 yes, you can only select 1 unit at a time, but it isn't quite as bad as it sounds because you usually have far less units on the screen anyway, but still it feels pretty cumbersome. It even has an engine limit for units (counting both your and enemy units, plus any projectiles etc.), so when you hit that in the later missions, none of the units can even fire their weapons because the engine doesn't allow it. You may easily end up in a deadlock situation when neither you nor your enemies can either win or lose the game. :) At that point you need to replay that mission and try to make sure you kill enemy units fast enough so that that limit is not reached.

Dune 2000 is a slightly modernized version of Dune 2 and it has more modern RTS controls too, but to me Dune 2000 also otherwise feels quite different from the original Dune 2. Not sure if the maps are the same either. So in my mind Dune 2000 doesn't "replace" the original Dune 2.

There are, e.g. I recall there was a fan made "Super Dune 2" or somesuch.

EDIT: It seems Super Dune 2 was created already in 1994, so more recent Dune 2 mods are apparently "Super Dune 2 Classic" and "Dune 2 Extended".

I was about to write that myself, but then I realized that in Dune you actually can command only 1 sietch/fremen unit at a time so the description still fits. :-)

I should actually play the first Dune game properly sometime. :) I have bought both the floppy and the CD-ROM version in the past (a very long time ago), but for some reason played them only for like 15 minutes or so. I always liked the music though, especially the Roland MT-32 music (but the Adlib music is pretty good too, for Adlib music...).

Dune 2 however, I played it from start to finish back when I first got it. One of those games that got me from the start and I forgot all the other games. The RTS gameplay it introduced fit me perfectly, and RTS has been one of my favorite genres ever since. Before Dune 2 I considered all strategy games "too hard to learn", like from SSI and Microprose and such.

I'm confident Crysis 2 will show up here sooner than later, since EA has been relatively generous with their mid-late 2000s pre-Origin games. But I don't have any "vague signs" even, other than the mods on the Origin/EA Answers forum being positive about GOG users desire to see more EA games here. That thread is over a year old, but I've come to appreciate how working with the big pubs can take a while, so I think we can keep hope up for more EA games.

Ah, I see.
Well, without spoiling too much, at some point you will be able to set tasks to fremen tribes (harvest spice, train, move, attack) and will have to fight... mmm... some enemy forces. So there's a bit more to it than walking/flying around and talking to people. :-)
I have never played the game myself, my knowledge comes from a Youtube walkthrough I watched.

Dune 2... heh, those were the days. I never had it, and though I played it a lot, that was way before I got my own PC so I could only play for a couple of hours on brief visits to a certain place; I tried to make the most of my time there, but... well, let's just say I never got too far in the game. It wasn't untill Starcraft that I truly began to appreciate RTS games. I still can't play them all that well, but now that doesn't stop me from enjoying them. :-D

IIRC, Emperor: Battle for Dune is the latest installment to the Dune RTS series. Would be sweet to have it here.
Shit, I'd settle for just having Unreal Tournament III Black here...
