mgarnett: If they can release Might and Magic IX, then they can release Ultima 9!! Which was worse?
Have you actually played M&M 9? It's actually quite good, not M&M 6 good, but good in it's own right.

M&M 6...good times.....all those bloody priests(monks?) to kill, though.....the chaps must've been breeding like rabbits behind the scenes. 0.o

Crosmando: Just make sure you use the Beautiful Britannia mod guys, it removes physical barriers in-game and makes the world map less linear.
I didn't even know this project existed. Thanks, i'll check it out.

I gotta finish it someday......I remember finding the sword in the forge full of lava(Had to be very careful to get to it[And possibly use some spells to float/fly.] but I got that sword and it was awesome.) and being so amazed at it's properties/look.

I also hope we get it soon......they gotta run out of indie games to release sometime, right?

I love the old-school funny NPC faces/voices/game intros in the older ones.....Xeen, M&M 6-8, etc.

Well the problem is they always make more indie games. GoG should release one indie and one classic each release day until they run out. Or at least have one day be meant for a classic.

And are you guys talking about Might and Magic? 1-9 have been realeased though 1-5 are packed with 6 and they weren't very clear on that.

Well obviously I meant they have to run out of pre-2012 indie games to release sometime soon(Minus all the shovelware, of course.). :p.................;)

Yep....M&M is an awesome series imo. Funny and fun to play(Well most of them are, anyways.).

I wouldn't call either game released today a "classic", although props for at least one of them being semi-old. I was quite hoping something, of course, pre-00s would be released. I'd like to see at least one classic a week, something like pre-2002 or so. But of course, "classic" is a relative term.

GOG says they don't want to release a bunch of RPGs/FPSs/etc all at once(In response to someone's comment awhile back.) in order to keep things varied then they start releasing ONLY indie titles and nothing but for weeks on end.

...And things end up even more monotonous as they end up releasing a bunch of Indie adventure games that I can't help but not care about. At least get some Indie RPGs like the Avernum series.

They're not ALL indie, of course, but that seems to be the majority, unfortunately. :-/ Interstate '82 and TR I'd call non-indie "classics", but the rest to me are rather new and not golden oldies.

You mean like three adventures in a week?

Only.

You know what I mean. :P

I wouldn't mind if(as others said) GOG released more oldies alongside the indie titles, but so far it's been mostly indie releases(Plus TR and a few sports titles, of course.). I'd even enjoy the indie releases if they were competitively priced, but seeing as I can get most of these elsewhere for cheaper(And DRM free.)......why buy them here?

Thunderstone: Well, the more games on here the better, and since they have the other games they might as well throw in the last game. The biggest disappointment that I can see about U9 (besides the bugs) is wasted plot potential. If I were on the writing team, I would have had the avatar turn evil from his time in pagan. While he did defeat the guy who took over Britania (forgot his name), he claimed the thrown for himself and now rules with an iron fist, fearful that evil will take over once again. He grew werely of how often it seems like Lord British allows evil into the realm and always expects him to clean up, and throws him in the dungeon. Lord British managers to escape and summons a new hero from our world to defeat the rogue avatar.

This would branch off nicely from the previous game. Since they wanted to make the game friendly to newcomers having a new avatar come in would have offered a great excuse to explain the lore and the virtues without making the characters look like thundering morons.
That is actually a good idea, sadly though given Ultima fans they would complain about that by saying "oh it ruined the image of the avatar" and all that like alot of them complained about having to do unvirtues things in Ultima 8 which I liked since you weren't in Britannia anymore and Pagan was such a hostile and cold place that you had no choice but to do questionable things to escape which was the Guardians plan, I mean he did say that you will be "a fallen idol of a pathetic ideal" what better way then banish him to a hostile alien where the only way of escape is do things he wouldn't normally do and then when he returns to Britannia which would be under his control show the people what their "saviour" did and have them turn on him.

Patryn: Oh come on, guys. Don't jump on the Ultima 9 hate bandwagon.

A couple of unofficial patches and Ultima 9 actually becomes a decent game - mind you, it's still not breathtakingly good or anything but playable.
For me it never was the small confined world and the meh graphics and such it was the awful story that felt like it was thrown together last second and the awful voice acting, dear god the voice acting...I can usually forgive bad acting but that was truly painful thankfully you can just lower the volume to ignore that.

Sadly there isn't any patches I know of that make the story more comprehensible and good, they fix what they can but man is it still painful.
