It’s high time to invite the 7th Guest and the 11th Hour into GOG.com catalogue.

In the beginning of 1990’s, most games would fit on a couple floppies and CD-ROM was as widespread as a combination Mouse and VoIP Phone is today. However, one gaming company decided to do something utterly ridiculous: create a game with live actors, pre-rendered 3D environment, and orchestrated score, a game so big it would have to be sold on CD-ROM. The game they created, The 7th Guest, eventually sold more than 2 million copies and is considered by many the killer app that created a demand for CD-ROM drives.

The 7th Guest is a gothic thriller adventure set inside an eerie abandoned mansion of one Henry Stauf, an insane toymaker who decided to make the house full of twisted quests, bizarre puzzles, and deadly challenges. Bill Gates hailed it then "the new standard in interactive entertainment".
The thrilling sequel, The 11th Hour, follows the same path of terror, desolation, and grotesque logic but with even more advanced graphics, better cinematic sequences, and more in-game content.

Together, The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour, form an unsettling tale of horror and mystery that will send chills down your spine. Both games are coming soon to GOG.com for $9.99 each.

Will you accept the invitation to Henry Stauf’s cursed mansion?
I have very, very fond memories of 7th guest. Thanks a lot GOG, and of course thanks Trilobyte for joining in and welcome!
Woohoo! I've been hoping GOG would work its magic and get these, most adventure games I'd hesitate to plunk out $9.99 for, but the puzzles in these are actually somewhat replayable. For anyone who's wondering, this is not the kind of adventure game where you can ruin your whole game by mislaying an item. The puzzles are well-presented classic brainteasers.
Nice catch, GOG! You should see about getting Clandestiny as well.

The 7th Guest had a cool soundtrack on one of the CDs... That would be neat to have as mp3, as the original version was written to the disc as one long track. I have the song "Skeletons in My Closet" on my regular playlist.

Also, you could do an interview with George Sanger, aka The Fatman of Team FAT (the music team from The 7th Guest). He's a good guy. I emailed him once about T7G's music, and he wrote me a very nice reply.

Galimatias: Yes, this doesn't mean we're done with SE titles ;)
Great. Now, how about Syndicate Wars? :P
Ever since I played 7th Guest, every time I get lost in a game labyrinth, I swear I can hear Stauf's voice come booming from the walls: "FEELING.... LONELY?"

So yep, a classic. It's not for everyone though; the puzzles get very repetitive very soon, the acting is C- grade material (which might or might not be a good thing, pending taste), and it got a labyrinth, and I never liked those.

But then, it also got a fairly nice (if simplistic) plot, a great atmosphere at times, and the puzzles are fun at first, when they work. And then there's this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDsoN48HI54

Sweet 2 very good classics certainly looking forward to playing these
Ahh, very exciting... but they're both already available on DotEmu now so sorry, but can't wait!
Those look really interesting. Too bad I have one hell of a backlog, so nothing for me today.
Good news.
One of my first PC games, sure great to see that it made it here!

Sure the "collection of puzzles" gameplay, which is essentially what it is, is not everyone's cup of tea, but like "Myst" this is a game you simply have to have played once. Even if some of the puzzles are terribly unfair (the cans!) or infuriating (the microscope! which was only bearable for that long thanks to the music). Those cool camera sweeps through the house and funny animations... and of course one of the best game soundtracks ever written and performed (by famous The Fat Man). And the story it tells is simply great even if it is a bit cliché. Some real actual spine-tingling moments, unlike the tacky stuff others try to sell as "horror". I still get the shivers thinking of the playroom cutscene...

Also, when I first got this game my PC wasn't fast enough to play the video. I can't say now whether it was the CPU, video card or CD-ROM drive, but I remember that neither me nor my dad knew what was going on -- we weren't aware of the concept of a computer not being fast enough for something yet :D

Edit @GOG: The store page lists "robin morales' journal" as an extra for The 7th Guest, but Robin Morales was a character in The 11th Hour only :)

Holy fuck. I am going to insta buy 7th Guest and 11th Hour. My first insta buy. Good job getting more games and publishers gog.
Oh come on GOG at least try and give my poor wallet(well Paypal) a breather here, still I can't help but be happy to hear about another great acquisition by you guys.
If 7th Guest is here, I think there's a chance for Mad Dog McCree. ;)
So both games will use Dosbox?
