It’s high time to invite the 7th Guest and the 11th Hour into GOG.com catalogue.

In the beginning of 1990’s, most games would fit on a couple floppies and CD-ROM was as widespread as a combination Mouse and VoIP Phone is today. However, one gaming company decided to do something utterly ridiculous: create a game with live actors, pre-rendered 3D environment, and orchestrated score, a game so big it would have to be sold on CD-ROM. The game they created, The 7th Guest, eventually sold more than 2 million copies and is considered by many the killer app that created a demand for CD-ROM drives.

The 7th Guest is a gothic thriller adventure set inside an eerie abandoned mansion of one Henry Stauf, an insane toymaker who decided to make the house full of twisted quests, bizarre puzzles, and deadly challenges. Bill Gates hailed it then "the new standard in interactive entertainment".
The thrilling sequel, The 11th Hour, follows the same path of terror, desolation, and grotesque logic but with even more advanced graphics, better cinematic sequences, and more in-game content.

Together, The 7th Guest and The 11th Hour, form an unsettling tale of horror and mystery that will send chills down your spine. Both games are coming soon to GOG.com for $9.99 each.

Will you accept the invitation to Henry Stauf’s cursed mansion?

lugum: good news, shame they have to cost $9,99 again though
new trend?
Yeah :/.. makes me wonder what price the newer games GOG will get will be sold at... most the the newer 'older' games can still be found on disk and I'm pretty sure most of them will cost WELL under £9.99.

Just have to wait and see.
$9.99 for each? A bit pricey.

I wishlisted both, will buy them at a 40% off promo then. Good games I presume, always meant to play them since they are (were) significant about the use of CD-ROMs, next to the Myst series.
allright!!
i still own both on cd, glad to get a digital copy soon, wishlisted for now.

cheers GOG!
I will not hesitate to get these on their first discount offer - maybe Clandestiny too?)

I am glad Trilobyte has shown up at GOG.com and brought Henry Stauf with them. In truth, I am not terribly surprised. When I saw that the PC versions for both these games were in the pipe on Trilobyte's website, I knew that their appearance on GOG would be just a matter of time.

Well, I still have the CD versions right now. The price is a bit steep for me at this time, so I'll wishlist for now. I do look forward to a sale on these items sometime in the future.

I do not see any word on if or when they will touch Clandestiny or some other games. There is, however, another 7th Guest sequel in the works, but I do not know of any details about it. With GOG about to do releases of new games, perhaps GOG can see some of that action...

This is just conjecture, but you cannot deny that a possibility like this can take place.
Eh, wishlisted - not buying at this price. Come on GoG, isn't it about time you implement bundle deals on your site? I'd pay $9.99 for 7th + 11th combo, not each.
I can't wait! I am so buying these games! While $9.99 per game does seem a bit much, I'm more then willing to pay if it means the game is compatible with Win7 and Vista. Something about the original game being compatible for 98, ME and 2000, as I think it came out before XP.

I have the CD version of the game, but its barely playable on XP for me - has sound, graphic, cut-scene and generally playability issues for me (that's after I manage to install it). Lot and lots of freezing issues on Win7, even in 'compatibility mode'.

I'm just glad these games are finally added to the catalogue! <3 Automatically wishlisted <3

That will be nice.
Can't say i've ever played these before as I grew up a console gamer, but i'm interested in trying them as i've heard good things about them on these forums.
This completely makes my day. I love the cheesiness that is 7th guest and have always wanted to try 11th hour, but never had the chance.

flitzefisch: If I remember correctly, the real breakthrough for CD-ROM was "Rebel Assault" from Lucasarts, not the 7th Guest.
I agree. Computer stores sold bundles back then: Rebel Assault + CD-ROM drive + controller card (ISA-Slot I think).
The 7th Guest (and Myst and Return to Zork and...) is great, but Rebel Assault is f...ing Star Wars! Running around in a haunted house solving puzzles and watching FMV sequences is nice, but it cannot compete with the destruction of the death star and the Lucas empire of merchandising.
oh yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh about time!!!
Any clue as to when these will be released as i can already get them drm free for about the same price elsewhere.
Dear GOG team, I have an Idea for an additional bonus item: On the american 11th hour CDs there were three WADs (levels) for Doom, Doom2 and Heretic of the Stauf Mansion made by someone at Trilobyte. They can still be found on the web (for now) and the license allows you to offer it as a bonus item*

It is still available from here:
http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=13925
http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=13926
http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/?id=13927

*
"You MAY distribute this WAD, provided you include this file, with
no modifications. You may distribute this file in any electronic
format (BBS, Diskette, CD, etc) as long as you include this file
intact."
