sanscript: Imagine someone creating Carmageddon today..

A few mentally sick people are trying very hard to sound like they need to be heard and acknowledged to the point where they see themselves entitled to tell developers and artists to censor their own games (creative art).

I recently came over a video about a developer who got death threats for not caving in to this sick minority, and I applaud them for standing up to such neo-liberal fascism. These are the same people who want trigger warnings everywhere and wants to impose these "pronounces" on others.

In Cyberpunk 2077 you can't shoot children or use drugs in a big way (among other things), but today's games go far beyond that - they are so limited and so censored they are practically dumbed down to the point it's made for children (because violence is ok but nudity and drugs is down-right damaging for a mature person). Even the story in many modern games are like that where so-called mature themes are watered down..

“Censorship is telling a man he can't have a steak just because a baby can't chew it.”

In the context of a game world that makes you the player in a world where you're supposed to affect the world, it seems silly to not being able to shoot children, use different drugs, run over people or having nudity just because it might offend someone that won't play the game.
Fully agree, wish other devs/publishers would follow this example.
Those crazies can't be satisfied anyway. They will always will want more and if you see someone giving in they will come back for more.

Imho everything should be allowed, we are adults, let us decide if we want the product or not.

The basis of most, if not all games, is to roleplay.

EDIT: If I want to roleplay as a terrorist with a so extreme perversion for onions, that I create my clothes with onions, use hair products with onions, and makes bombs with onions and garlic, and then throw them on people, no matter if it's men, woman, or children, then that's my choice.

It's still a game, not reality, which some seems to completely forget. :D
While I agree with the core argument that it's just a game and you should be allowed to do whatever you want since it's digital escapism, I think one thing that's lost in your comment is the fact that it's a game and someone needs to program it. The idea that developers would program in anything you could think of is a little extreme and accusing them of censorship for not including things that you would be interested in isn't fair. Lack of the ability to use drugs in a game may have nothing to do with censorship and everything to do with not prioritizing it in development. Or they may simple have not thought to add it. That's something that seems lost in this argument, time to develop game mechanics and development priorities. I don't care for censorship, but I don't assume lack of something implies censorship.

I think you missed something when reading my post - I'm not accusing them of censorship because they don't want to add onion-bombs in the game. :D

This wasn't about things NOT in the game. The video I was referring to was about some people got mad about something that already is in the game.

Fair enough. That’s my bad. I do get the impression that some people view lack of function as censorship, but I misinterpreted your comment.
Apparently, Ultima 5 has a dungeon room where children attack you, and to clear the room you have to kill the children.

like 3 or 4 of the ultima games feature this, including the best game box art in the world Pagan
