now I doubt there's any interest in a release here on GOG but I guess I'll go into Barry mode anyway and post a bunch of wishlist links anyway to drum up some votes and show there's some interest here, since it's not like it would hurt anything.

Western Touhou fans are getting hype. Please watch warmly until it is ready.
Let's celebrate!

That's pretty cool to hear. In spite of being one of the more famous Japanese PC gaming series, Touhou games are virtually unknown outside of Japan and one of the reasons for this is that they're not commercially available outside of that country. It's certainly great that the series will finally get some exposure in non-Japanese markets. On top of that, since Playism has already released games here on GOG (and the original developer and publisher of these games, Team Shanghai Alice/ZUN Soft, is literally a one-man crew), the chances of seeing those titles here are actually quite decent.

Having said that, I don't see these games being of much interest to non-Japanese consumers, even those that generally love Japanese games. Not only are most of them bullet hell shmups (practically a niche within a niche), Touhou is honestly a lot more famous for the dojinshi and other fan works surrounding it than it is for the games themselves.
For REAL? OMIGOSH! I want that, i want that, i would buy that! I am especially interested in the fighting games spinoffs, those are my most beloved! Scarlet Weather Rhapsody with Untinkable Natural Law, the older one and the newer one in which they are doing combat while flying on air!

I am a touhou gamer, too!

You serious, Gandos-chan? From teens to men and women in their forties, those games are well known and spread throughout anime sites and forums! Lots of people know Touhou and wish they could get official English release! Also, they have many spinoffs! The super marisaland and the fighting ones among the highest quality and more well known...

I've heard a lot about touhou, but I know virtually nothing about it. I'd be lying to say I'm not interested at this point.

But... bullet hell. like snowkatt, I have zero interest on that genre. Maybe if they have a super easy mode where I can play for the story, I'd check them out. Maybe.

This.
I'd probably still buy them for "historical" sake I guess.

Indeed.

Good news, it's a shame I left them for impossible because I suck at them, but it's something to celebrate. Yay!

I am not denying Touhou's popularity, at least among fans of Japanese works. But it has to be stressed that its popularity doesn't primarily or even predominantly stem from the games themselves. As I said before, Touhou became popular as a dojin phenomenon more so than it did as a video game series. If you ask people how they found out about Touhou, chances are that they'll reference one of the many fan works related to the series.

This isn't to say that Shanghai Alice/ZUN Soft had no hand in Touhou's popularity, but for better or worse, he was merely the instigator. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that the dojin fanbase essentially took Touhou as their own and built it into what it is now; heck, most of the canon related to Touhou characters was essentially thought up by the fans.

This isn't to say that there is no value in bringing these games over. I'm sure there is at least a decent number of people who are genuinely curious regarding where all the madness started from and I certainly would be happy to see them on GOG. But as I mentioned previously, bullet hell shmups are a niche even within the shmup genre (which is already niche as a whole). Chances are that those games simply aren't going to be that appealing to most customers. And while I can see the fighting games doing better, they too are unlikely to have the lasting power of similar games in the market.

Exactly, I know these games just for the cool remixes based on their soundtrack or for the [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUBbigtfCWs]crazy silly video parodies. XD
I'd maybe buy one (if good), but I'm not a big fan of such titles.

I actually wonder if we're going to get any of the fanmade derivatives in the West. Touhou Koukishin (Ys 6/F/O clone) is up on the Japanese Playism store, so it doesn't seem to be impossible, but...
Man, I'd love to see the two Koumajou Densetsu games (Castlevania clones) along with their soundtracks here.
