takezodunmer2005: I didn't find this out until AFTER I fuckin' bought it! All I saw was that TL2 was DRM free, and bought it from runic directly, I didn't check the fact that it was DRM free via a separate Humble Bundle site...

DRM#1 I had to have the prog go online to install...

DRM#2 Auto DL the files via launcher...

DRM#3 Now I have to activate it to their online fuckin' servers!

I usually make sure that a game doesn't sneak their DRM bullshit on me before I end up wasting my money on them, but it looks like I was too overzealous when I saw the words Torchlight 2 DRM free, and even went to their site to support them in celebration upon learning about it...

So can it truly be considered piracy if one were to torrent a game that they paid full price for? (Rhetorical question naturally)

tinyE: I got it from Runic and unless they recently changed it there should be a way to start it and play it off line.

Go into your files and find the Runic folder, mine was "C:\Users\Public\Games\Runic Games\"
Go into Torchlight 2 and you should see a file called JUST "Torchlight2". That should take you strait to the game with no logging in.

When the game installs it automatically makes a desktop icon with the file "tl2.runic.launcher.exe" which makes you log on and all that shit.
Thanks for the info, however, I've no problem, nor issue concerning offline play. No, my issue is with the remote server install package and activation, none of which could be utilized via public wifi and laptop, in other words desktop installation would be impossible without having online access in my home...

This is why I value GOG so much, because one could easily DL a game after purchase directly to a flash drive/laptop via public wifi connection for later installation after copying the files on one's desktop, I'm against the idea of reliance on a third party utility company in order to play a game, it's simply not practical, especially when most consumers are faced with the rising costs of utilities, food, housing etc, not to mention the stagnating wages more and more people are facing, world wide....

I mean really, steam and their ilk actually deters people from purchasing from them by actively blocking prospective consumers from access to their product, unless they purchase a third party monthly expense...

===================EDIT==================

I Just purchased the Humble bundle package, so all is well, though my thoughts on DRM still stand.

HIB campaign ending today but probably won't coming to GOG soon :(
I've been playing the Humble version. It's DRM-free for sure, but then again, I haven't even attempted to go online with it. Pretty fun - it really is Diablo II right down to its soul.

I already mentioned this on the HIB14 thread, but I'll repeat it here because I see there's still some confusion about it: the HIB version doesn't require the key. In fact, you don't get one. However, for Internet multiplayer, you still need to register an account with Runic, in order to get access to their server browser. As far as I can see, there's no direct IP option.

Thanks for the repost, now I have an alt for a gog purchase, but still support gog..
Multiplayer, schmultyplayer, I shun MoRPGs like the plague anyways...And yes, I voted for a gog vers!
There are a lot of people that want Torchlight 2 on GOG. The wishlist has over 7,400 votes!

And I started it! *pats self on back* =P

Still doubtful it'll ever come here, seeing how long they've been dragging their feet with some bullshit excuse.
