Siannah: Yes I did read about your proclaimed trolling attempt before I wrote it and no, I didn't do it because of you. But believe that you succeeded in trolling and give yourself a pat on your shoulder, I don't care.
No official release date still. The developers have said they delayed the game (not sure how you can delay a game with no official release date) but people are speculating late fall.
I have to say, I'm excited for what they're doing and will be buying it directly from Runic as soon as I can (or optionally GOG, if they score the ability to sell it).

nijuu: Chances Gog will actually sell it?.
The only reason they used DRM at all on the Runic version of Torchlight was to make it so you could easily activate your demo copy and keep playing (they've constantly refunded activations throughout the life of the product) and they made good by releasing a 100% DRM Free boxed copy like 2 months later, I think these guys might be willing to do a GOG deal (since we tend to simply download the whole game here, instead of download demo, play, buy and activate). On launch, 2 months later? Dunno. Are GOG and Runic even talking? Again, dunno, afaik Runic has been completely mum on what other digital retailers would be selling TL2.

Well I remember reading somewhere on their forums from one of the developers that no GOG on launch, but it seems it will be here a few month after launch. I think for now all pre-orders are either steam (multiple DD sell the steam version) or PW and at launch it should be available to buy directly from runic.

I don't mind if Torchlight 2 takes several months before landing on GOG. I will likely still have other games in backlog to play while waiting anyway. Besides, these several months might do GOG good. At least by then inevitable bugs are likely solved already.

nijuu: Why is that though?
No idea, but my guess is: Exclusive Deal with Steam and as GOG is DRM free, they can't just sell the steam version.
I'm still curious as to when they'll release the game. Seems like the beta's been going on for a good while now. Perhaps September? Their news updates are so few and far between it's usually hard to gauge how much progress has been made.
I do hope it'll get a GOG release eventually (within the year at least).
